Much as we don't like to think so, the Zoo is a business. It needs to be raising money so it can stay afloat just like any business. A good businesswoman or man can help do just that. That is my opinion and you don't have to like it. Also, the new zoo director needs to clean up the smell. It always smells in there. Expand it further and advertise. Add a train ride or something fun. Have zoo "days" for kids where they dress up and get in free or something fun. Let's get creative. Think outside the box. The person that gets this job has to have a vision.
I think someone with a business mentality would know to make changes because the zoo,as it is today is boring. make a few changes to bring in money , use money to make more changes.
It seems to me that a person who cared more about the animals would be prone to stay longer. Then having a couple of people with business and fundraiser backgrounds on the board would be the ultimate combination.
