  • I love our little airport. Hop on the plane and your off! No dealing with Houston traffic, parking, etc. If the whole family flys, it is cheaper to make the drive to Austin and get on a plane since its located in a good spot.

  • My daughter used to use the airport until she had 2 bad experiences there. One time it was the pilots fault and another time, it was Victoria airports fault. And as mentioned before, the long layovers in Houston were a problem.
She has since chosen to make the 6-hr. drive from Dallas instead of relying on the Victoria airport or the Houston airports

  • I'm surprised that there aren't other modes of transportation available.

  • I'm one who says it's very important, and I do use the service. It is frustrating, however, to face the delays in Houston though. My last trip was round trip from Victoria to Midland/Odessa. Delays due to mechanical problems with planes in and out of Houston were a real problem. The flights themselves were great and much better than trying to drive there.

With current technology, business travel is not as necessary as it was in the past, however, it has to be an aid to our local economy having a commercial airline flying in and out of our area. I would really hate to see this service ended.

  • You obviously need a local economy that “imports air traffic”, because “export air traffic” is too weak.

So find an appropriate answer to the question, “why should people fly into Victoria?” The answer to that is the economy that flies them here, instead of drives them.

State representatives should propose that the Victoria area be given special permission to allow casino style gambling for 10 years as a measure to strengthen air service in the area and see the economic impact of gambling in Texas. Air traffic revenues generated during this time could then be appropriated to developing and aviation industry in Victoria. Build modern facilities to attract aviation support companies and develop the labor pool in that direction.

After 10 years, even if Victoria is unable or decides not to maintain a gambling industry; the aviation industry should by then be self-sustaining.

Not to mention the casinos would create thousands of jobs, which I’ve been reading that people want.

    Doesn’t that make sense?

  • I try to always fly out of Victoria, especially if my wife and children go, it is so much easier and less stressful to go through the checking in and security in Victoria, and when you return to the airport you don't have a 2-3 hour trip ahead of you. I think air service is a critical cog in Victoria's ability to continue growing commercially.

  • At first blush I say very important. If it is commercial passenger service, Yes I can drive to Houston. But if it is lifeflight that is a major service that we do need for our community. It needs to be here for us.

  • It is cheaper to pay for gas money and drive to Hobby or ICA in Houston.

  • I wonder what the expense of the facility is per passenger and per landing and take off? I also wonder how many people that state the facility is very important actual use the facility or do they opt to just take their flights in and out of Houston.
