HEB's Mother's Day contest is open to anyone. They only have age limits. If I never, ever shopped at HEB, my kid could enter me.

One can only enter Detar's contest if the baby was born at Detar. I cannot enter a picture of my kid who was born at Citizen's.

The contest is closed. We published photos of lots of adorable babies in today's print edition. I'll talk with our features crew about making sure those photos appear online as well.

Smartee, we write about this contest for the same reason we write about HEB's Mother's Day contest -- lots of local people are involved. If any other organizations want to create another way to recognize people in our region, we'd be happy to work with them, too.

I have often wondered why the Advocate gives this contest this much publicity. It is sponsored by a private, for profit hospital, and is restricted to Detar born babies only.

Would look a whole lot better for Detar to sponsor an area wide beautiful baby photo contest.

Either charge Detar for a full page ad, or drop this contest altogether.

And, yes, all of these babies are adorable!

I am out of town and am reading the Advocate online this morning, but cannot find the winners of the Adorable Baby Contest! I would like to vote, but I have no idea who the winners are! If there is an online poll, the story should be online too. If anyone knows where I can find it online, let me know.
