The Feds dropped the ball on this one. They had the shooter pegged as a potential threat and yet failed to act upon it -- and even failed to make their findings known to the armed forces.

Some of the safest places to live in the world are New Zealand,Dennmark(also the happiest people supposedly),Norway, and Sweden. The United States is a lot lower on the list for safest places to live in the world.

For sure Alton is "on target" with his comment, and as some others have said, to a large extent someone snapping and climbing the U.T. Tower with a footlocker arsenal, going into a Luby's with more than an appetite, or flying around with a bellyfull of armed missiles and mistaking a wedding party for a gathering of terrorists, is hard to prevent, obviously.
But in the case of this guy that perpetrated this most recent atrocity on our servicemen and women at Fort Hood, the ball was dropped big time in the way of preventing this. If this is truly a country of in God we trust, then maybe considering the religious faction that perpetrated 9/11, and are so intent on using IEDs and suicide bombings to kill Americans both on American soil and abroad, maybe just this one time, we might want to reconsider allowing them to become a part of our own military, no matter how much they promise to be cool and not blow up their own fellow soldiers. I think the money spent hiring lawyers to keep them from enlisting and fraternizing with our soldiers, would far outweigh the concern of stepping on their religious toes and risking what just happened in Kileen.

Reminds me of the old saying,"Guns don't kill people politicians do", or something like that.

II contend that mass killings can never be prevented.
Gun control will not work, because mass killings have occurred even in recent years with machetes (Africa genocide).
Better Mental Health services will not work, because it cannot catch all individuals that may mass kill.
Better security will not work, because even the best security cannot stop a determined killer. We see mass killings by bombs in very secure areas.

You seem to have missed tnt88's point, BubbleHeadJones. He said put the CONSERVATIVE Republicans back in charge. That explicitly excludes RINOs, who are only conservative as long as it takes them to get elected.

The rest of your points were excellent. Not only is a 100% safe society something that is beyond our ability to achieve, it is one in which almost all of us would not want to live. The proof of this is that, in terms of crime rates, the two societies that probably came closest to 100% safety were the Communist
USSR and Mao's Communist China. Anyone interested in voting to move in that direction?

I have to say that I'm somewhat amazed by the votes for stricter gun control. This latest outrage was, after all, committed on an ARMY BASE where there are, I'm sure, tens of thousands of guns of all varieties. I guess some people want to disarm the mmilitary. Oops! I forgot who's in office. Yeah, that is something I believe the democrats would like to do.

Take the liberal socialist out of office and let the conservative republicans fix what has been broken so far, chase extremist Muslims out of our country.
