Everything I have read in the Advocate on the subject leads me to the conclusion that this is a good idea. There does not seem to be any argument that a new plant MUST be built and in operation by 2015. The City Council retained a consultant who seems to have considered all possible locations and recommended the site in South Victoria. All of the other suggested sites would entail significant additional construction as well as ongoing maintenance costs. Given that the taxpayers' pockets are deep but not bottomless, a vote for this site seems to be in our best interest.
I wonder if all the yes votes are from people that live no where near the proposed location? It is easy to say yes if you are not affected by the smell or other things associated with the sewer plant location.
