  • this survey was a joke and waste of the paper it was wrote on!!! Lowering the tax rate and bringing back industry (NOT PETRO- CHEMICAL ITS A DYING INDUSTRY) is the only way to promote real economic growth. We need industry that builds all the things we have quit making here and sent overseas. TV'S, Appliances, Steel, Electronics and all the other things we no longer make here. We have become a consumer nation that no longer builds anything here. Our industrial base is gone and has been replaced with low paying jobs at mac donalds and walmart. This is due to taxes and high union wages and benefits. Nobody putting 1 bolt in on an assembly line is worth 40-50 dollars an hour in benefits and wages. Thats what led to the auto industry failing to compete with foreign car companies a long with poor quality workmanship for that money. If we want to get the economy going again we need to quit buying everything from over seas and start making it here again.

  • Journalistic integrity at its best!

Here's a poll for you guys...

Which is the All-Time Greatest Movie?
    A) Crocodile Dundee
    B) Ace Ventura: Pet Detective
    C) Ace Ventura 2: When Nature Calls
    D) Sister Act

What?! Can't you see that I don't like the classics like Citizen Kane, Gone With The Wind, and The Godfather. So, you don't get to vote on them because I'd like to steer you away from having a reasoned opinion toward having my opinion (derived from my hidden agenda to erase classic movies from your minds). Providing a choice for "Other" or "None of the Above" would be self-defeating.

  • none of those choices will spur growth.

  • You left the one major area out of your survey that will contribute more to growth then all of your choices combined: lower tax rate/lower ad valorm property taxes. From what I can determine, and it is difficult to find accurate information, Victoria has one of the highest city tax rates in the state. This is driving businesses away and putting a tremendous burden on individual property owners. Control spending, pet projects and focus on a strong police and fire department and businesses will locate here more readily. Also amazing to me nothing mentioned about education system (K-12) as this has more of an impact in attracting young families with children then any of the choices offered.
