Hubby wanted one...I saw the prices, cheapest was about 2000.00 without the pedastal that keeps you from laying on your belly to retrieve your clothes. Pedestals were several hundred more...with tax & delivery you're looking at 3-4 thoussand dollars for just a washer....dryers aren't much, if any cheaper. The one I was looking at, I couldn't even fit my head into opening, just think how hard a wad of wet towels would be to get out of one of those things!
Suzy, if you have $6000.00 to drop on an energy efficient/water conserving set of appliances you are the very thing you seem to despise. I recently replaced my washer & I would not spend what was required to acquire that appliance....I have better things to do with $3000.00.
No, I wouldn't buy a new machine just to save water. I already save water in other ways. But, when my machines need replacing, I will buy the water-saving ones.
