i dont think that visd made the right decision because you just dont make a decision like that without the students parents. some parents may want there kids to see president obamas speech but visd made the wrong decision thats all i got to say.
Don't you think that the people that don't want their kids to view the address are entitled to have their wishes respected as the one who want their kids to view it? To record the address and offer a time for anyone to watch it who wants to, shows that the school district is trying to accomodate everyone. Whether or not you agree with the decision of the administration, you should respect their standing on the situation. But, that is one of the things that is wrong with our society - we can't see past what "we" want and we can't seem to respect other peoples wishes.
I think the school districts partisanship is showing. By refusing to play the presidents message, a message that encourages children to stay in school and not drop out, study hard, graduate, go to college, volunteer in their communities and become productive American citizens.
Oh yes, really socialistic/communistic stuff. What a bunch of idiots.
I respect VISD's decision to record the message for use at a time appropriate if needed. The fact that our kids need a minority roll model is important and many should follow his dress/attair and reach for a dream above and out of the streets, drugs, violence, and poverty to become model citizens within the community earning an honest living day-in and day-out not placing one above the other only becoming productive lives in existance with humanity.

it would be cheaper to just let the kids that don't want to see it, go to the gym, or study hall or something.
