Voted for Mumphords because they said in the area. Closer Mikeska's in El Campo. The finger licking, tongue wagging BEST in City Market in Luling. Worth the drive.
October 1, 2009 at 9:45 p.m.I have two faves..........Clints South Texas Barbq, I like the trashcan taters and pulled pork. And in Wharton, Taste Woods BarB Q behind whataburge. great bbq as well as some down home southern cooking.

LuRaq and Mumphord's were on the same line and now they've been separated with LuRaq's keeping the 40something percent of the vote and Mumphord's now only having one percent. Somebody's messin' with the poll. This is beginning to look like Landslide Lyndon Johnson's winning his first congressional seat.
October 1, 2009 at 12:49 p.m.I forgot about a little place in Edna that used to be there, although I cannot remember the name of it. It was the best, as far as I'm concerned. The potato salad was perfect, and that is a hard thing to do. It was a perfect balance between sweet and tart. I have yet to find a place that is comparable. I'm still kicking myself for not asking for recipes when I heard they were closing.
October 1, 2009 at 12:29 p.m.I don't miss Brother's. Their sauce was more of a reddish-brown gravy without any zing at all. Mumphord's is by far my favorite in Victoria. If I'm going out of town, gimme Hinze's. My all time favorite is a place in Memphis, TN. There is a lot more pork served up there than in Texas.
