Nice job Gyro. Nothing like a broad, vague, denigrating post to make a point.
Thank goodness we have a self-righteous Republican (I assume) pundit like yourself to pontificate on the perceived shortcomings of entire groups of people in general.
They don't influence my vote, but they do obstruct my vision at certain street corners and overall do nothing but destroy the asthetic beauty of the city.
Signs do not influence my vote but it tells me something about my neighbors and vice versa, when I display my yard sign in support of a friend running for office, or a presidential candidate....I've gotten used to the political signs as I have to barricades along Laurent Street. They will eventually be removed and we will move on to another pet peeve.
We, the Victoria Conservatives feel the exact same way. WE hate signs. When we chose to run on the Republican Ballot for the County Chair and 23 Precinct Chair positions we agreed we would not erect a single sign. We believe Republican candidates owe it to our voters to tell you what we believe in. We have knocked on doors, put up our website, attended candidate forum and visited with our neighbors in their homes. Wwe want to be known for our grassroot campaigning. If you want to know more about us...visit our website www.victoriaconservatives.org. We tell you exactly what it is we believe in, and what we are going to do to change our Party. If you like what we have to say vote for me, Dale Zuck for GOP County Chair. And vote for my team members running to be your precinct chair.
I find a sign here & there okay, what I find an EYESORE is a whole yard, field, fence with nothing but signs on them. Will be so glad when this election has passed & the signs are down. In some areas there are so many I fail to see how anyone can read all of them without causing a wreck
As much as I dislike the signs, they CANNOT be outlawed! Refer to the First Amendment. Now, there should be laws enforced that require the signs to be removed immediately after the election.
exresident...you are right on that one...Corpus isn't really good on one side or the other. It's all kind of run down in my opinion. And to me, it's a shame, I really enjoyed taking the kids there, but now I have gotten to the point where it's not so fun to go there anymore. The Bayfest kind of was fun, but soooo many "gangster" type people and just plain trashy people that you really don't want your kids exposed to that. Just expressing my past experiences! Most of the time now we just drive around Corpus straight to Mustang Isle, or South Padre Island instead of stopping in Corpus to do anything.
I’m waiting for Politicians to create political “Apps”, it would be more effective if you just posted signs to direct people to your apps. In conjunction with that, depending on regulation, they might sell advertisement space to supports that are willing to offer special coupons on those banners. Oops, did just give politicians and their small business supporters and idea, darn it, I wasn’t going to do that anymore.
Political Signs are so RIDICULOUS.... (waywardwind)...you said it best. NO SIGN is going to sway me one way or the other. My choice goes to those who REALLY put it out there physically not with nails, stakes and an outrageously huge poster that is really nothing but an eye sore.
ALSO, I must comment on (tstorms) post! Although I found it a little bold and OUT THERE...you may have a point. To me, the only part of town that is getting a continuous facelift done to it is the NORTH side. But, isn't that how all towns are. The north side of a town always gets the most?! The best schools, business, hotels, etc, etc…..so what if the rest of the city goes to crud…at least the Northside went up…LOL…IDK…you tell me!
I know that I am voting for "Bonsai", like the sign says by those cute little trees in front of Ashley Furniture store. Don't know what he's running for, but I like his trees. A vote for Bonsai is a vote for a greener tomorrow.
Signs are a pain in the @#$. They should be outlawed. The worst thing about them is the winners and losers don't have the commen decency to take them down when the circus is over .
Yeah, sure. Just like I decide to buy a Ford instead of a Chevy based on a freakin' BILLBOARD! I think we've all been had big time by people with marketing degrees who tell us that just because a sign is seen by X number of people, then Y number of people will be influenced by it. It's all a load of what Farmer Brown spreads in his garden.
Absolutely, I make a mental note of THOSE POSTING THE SIGNS and then I VOTE FOR SOMEONE THAT DID NOT POST a sign, but instead took the time to contact me personally in some way,

I like the signs, because they show who the lying hypocrites are, from the smallest seat in Government to the Biggest seat in Government.
