  • Your comment is not racist in the least, mackattack. You're only stating the obvious, but political correctness has run so rampant that even a mention of the word "black" requires a qualifying statement and elicits apologies (which it shouldn't).

I understand it is "Black History Month", but I think composing an article about a subject based solely on his skin color is the most racist thing on this page. Shame on you, VicAd.

  • I'm not trying to be racist here, but about the first option; if Edna had only one white firefighter or only one Hispanic firefighter or only one Korean firefighter or only one Norwegian firefighter or only one any other race of firefighter, would it make a difference? Why does he need to be singled out? I'm glad he chose to be a firefighter and that he will be there for those who need his help along with the other firefighters, but does it really matter that he is a black man (or woman, since there is no distinction in the poll)? The simple answer is no. The only thing that matters is that he is brave enough to risk his life in the service of others. I'm very glad he (or she) chose to be a firefighter. Why not do a story to honor all of the firefighters in the crossroads area, not just the one black firefighter in Edna?
