Cursing is speaking in tongues? French.

You should really pick up a science book and tune out your pastor or priest for a while. All the events you describe are successfully explained by science - accepting the big bang theory is not mutually exclusive to believing in a creator unless you are an ignorant biblical literalist. Let us also not forget that the universe is quite a harsh place for our delicate frames - the Earth has suffered many extinction events in its 4 billion + years and is lucky to be shielded by gas giants such as Jupiter and Saturn that have deflected potential catastrophe countless times in the past.
I suspect that the recent discoveries of hundreds of exoplanets innour galaxy which has led to estimations of perhaps 50 million earth like planets waiting to be discovered in Milky Way alone also means that there is an extremely high probability of sentient life having lived, currently living or about to be created in many, many corners of what we know of the Universe. This is bad news for religions that claim some dusty corner of the Middle East as God's promised land - the same type of bad news as when it was finally accepted that the Earth was not the center of the universe.
If there is a god it's far more plausible to me that it is not a personal god represented in human form by a messiah but rather the set of laws that govern our universe - itself a god. Or perhaps there simply is no god - there is no reason to accept that just because we exist a creator also exists - that's a failure of the human mind unable to grasp a concept.
As for prayer, I don't believe in a personal god espoused by those greasy salesmen wearing the crosses and dog collars that tell me that's how it is Go look at every natural disaster that befell humans for millennia and convince me that if a god did answer prayers then what a capricious and controlling little sod he is for allowing his creation to needlessly destroy people. God works in mysterious ways? Nah - they're only mysterious because of the illogical hypocrisy one has to swallow in order to be a follower of Christ, Islam or any other religion that asks you to suspend your intellect and reason in order to receive eternal salvation
May 7, 2011 at 1:55 a.m.How can anyone even question the existence of God. You can just look out the window and see God's creation. The belief in the Creator is much more plausible than believing in any kind of big bang theory. Our earth continues to rotate perfectly on it's axis and rotates perfectly around the sun every day. The stars and our moon continue to hang in our skies. Our very calender is (before Christ) and (after Christ). Is it possible that all of the witnesses at that time just made it up. All of the witness accounts are also recorded in our Bible. Many of the Bible prophecies have come true. There are too many to list here. One of them is that Israel would become a nation. That has happened in the last century. Another one is that all countries that bless Israel will be blessed and those who curse Israel will be cursed. That has played out in spades. Jesus is our Father. Jesus came to the earth to pay a price that we could not pay. He loved us so much that he paid the ultimate sacrifice. After having kids, it's not that hard to understand. We were made in his image. You love your kids so much that you want to save them. Jesus death and resurrection was the biggest act of love in history. He did that so that we could have life everlasting with him. You know what? It is not hard. Jesus never liked religion. The Bible talks a lot about hypocritical religious zealots. Jesus last commandmant in the new testament was to love him with all your heart and love your neighbor. All you have to do is believe John 3:16, That God so loved the world that he gave his only begotton son, and those that believe in him shall not perish but have everlasting life. Don't take anything away from the cross and don't add anything to it. That's it.
May 6, 2011 at 8:50 p.m.My wife is currently undergoing treatment for colon cancer . If it wern't for the prayers of countless people praying for her I am sure that by now we would be calling on hospice . As it is with more prayer I firmly believe she is going to whip this thing and thrive . Thank you Lord !!
May 6, 2011 at 7:38 p.m.Prayer really works..we should thank god everyday not just call on him when something major happens...

May 6, 2011 at 3:03 p.m.I thank God every day. when something goes wrong, I leave it in his hands. I used to have a higher anxiety level than I do now, but with prayer, it has significantly decreased, and with his help, WE ARE in control!
