  • Justamom.

You say "they need a lesson in history". I am a history major, you tell me where I am wrong? I could bring up the constitution of the Confederate States of America? Maybe just maybe I should asked you which governor of a southern state replaced his state flag with that of Dixie (c 1960) and why? Plus which state?

If you cannot answer that question without “Goolging” it then I suggest that you refrain from telling anyone about needing a lesson in history.

  • Why not. Every skinhead will want one. Think of how much money that will bring in!

The war ended in 1865. Time to bury this ugly part of our past. Crosses should be prayed under, not burned.

The moment the hate groups stole the flag the dignity of the South died.

  • The coneheads at the Klan use the US flag as their main flag. They use it for opening and closing meetings. At the largest Klan rally in history, in DC, the paraded with nothing but US flags. The Saint Andrews Cross is a soldiers flag, nothing more. It is about honoring the soldiers. Then Confederate governmental flag is flown everyday as part of the Six Flags of Texas.

  • If we eliminated every symbol that was ever used in a negative way, we'd really have to get rid of a lot of stuff like moons, stars and such.

The Rebel flag has been used as a symbol of the Confederacy since the Civil War. It is sad that the Klan and other racist groups adopted it as their symbol, but it is more symbolic of the South's resistance to Northern politics and governance. That is reality.

When I was in high school, this flag was carried by our band. Our fight song is Dixie. It did not have a negative connotation and that is how I view it.

But, as to the Confederate flag symbol on a license plate--it makes me think of an orange Dodge Charger with an 01 on the door...

  • Um yes, we (southerners) have to accept a lot of things that are not in our heritage. The flag has been blown way out of the water. It isn't as bad as everyone thinks. They just need a lesson in history. I am a proud southern and i would buy one.
