I like the idea of "Black History Month". It helps me have a better understanding of how remarkable our "brothers from another mother" are and how they have helped build this magnificent nation we call home.
God bless the United States of America and those that have served and are serving now.
I think black history month should be dropped. Celebrate great leaders, inventors, etc. as a whole instead of singling them out. (Blacks and whites together.) As one history instead of two. Like someone else mentioned, the African American community want to be equal, that would be a big start.
Why in the world would anyone have an issue with "Black History Month"? is it taking food from your family's mouths? Are you being forced to send someone money because if the celebration? In what way has the issue caused you damage or pain? Is it the name of the celebration that puts a twist in their knickers?
For fear that we forget. We will repeat errors unless we always know what history teaches. Vital part of our efforts to build a stronger, better community. Assuredly it is your right to chose not to join or personally support.
For my education and understanding, I support these appointed times to recall our past. You will never understand a man until you have worn his shoes.
I am of German decent. We celebrate and recall our history all over the USA. Our black community (as well as other ethnic groups) have never complained, questioned, nor take exception. My experiences reflects they join us; learn about my (our) heritage, and enjoy our wonderful food and drink. Fellowship is stellar.
To the survey, I elected indifferent. As long as the effort is active, I do not hold opinion whether it should be a month, week, or first Monday of every month.
Yes, Black History Month is important. OldTimePhotos, I'll be the first to tell you that your comment is ignorant and I am being nice compared to the responses that you will receive later today.
