FLATONIA - Adrain Lighterard rushed for 166 yards and a touchdown but for naught on Friday as the Flatonia bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season.The Burton Panthers (4-1, 1-0) fought off the Bulldogs (4-1, 0-1) to capture a 14-7 decision in a District 27-1A opener for both teams.
The Panthers hit first on a Brandon Patterson 5-yard run in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead.
Bobby Mathis would add a 1-yard scoring run to put the Panthers up 14-0 with 5:44 left in the third period, before Lightard broke free on a 24-yard scoring run 5 minutes later.
