  • Where do I go to submit a letter to the editor?

    Navigate to the main navigation bar under the VictoriaAdvocate.com logo and hover your mouse over the "Opinion" tab. A secondary menu will appear. "Letter to the Editor" is the third tab from the left. Hover this tab and select "Write a Letter" from the dropdown menu.

  • How do I submit an obituary?

    Obituary deadlines: 3 p.m. for all obituaries. 4 p.m. for pending notices and service times.
    Please call 361-580-6356 for more information. E-mail submissions to obits@vicad.com, fax them to 361-574-1274 or stop by the Victoria Advocate at 311 E. Constitution. There are no restrictions on obituary content, but the Victoria Advocate reserves the right to edit obituaries to meet publishing standards.
    Office hours for obituaries: 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

  • How can I suggest a story for the paper?

    There are several ways to suggest a story.You can send an email to newsroom@vicad.com or call the Newsroom directly at 574-1222.You can also join us M-F at 10 a.m. for our morning news broadcast. You can use the chat feature to comment on the news we are discussing and suggest ideas. Or, if you are a social media buff, you can suggest story ideas to us through Facebook or Twitter.

  • How do I put a photo of someone in the paper with a few lines of text about them?

    Readers can submit photos online by finding the "Your Photos" block on the home page, about halfway down the right rail. Select "Upload a Photo" from the secondary menu that appears. Make sure the photo is in jpeg format; you can see this by looking at the name of the photo after the period, for example: apple.jpg, apple.gif. We are looking for .jpg. One photo is randomly selected to run in the A2 section of the paper every day, and other photos are randomly selected to run in "Good Living" section on Wednesdays and the "Home" section on Sundays. You can also email photos from your computer or phone to share@victoriaadvocate.net or send photos by regular mail or hand-deliver.

  • How do I start a blog?

    If you don't have a user account with us, you'll need to create one. You can create that account using your Facebook or Google accounts by clicking here. If you already have an account -- but not a blog -- you can sign in here. Once you are signed in, hover over (or click if you are on a mobile device) on your name, choose "view profile" from the options. Once on your profile page, click on the "add a blog" button and fill the fields out. Presto, you now have a blog on our site. Start blogging. You can also edit your blog from this same page.

    Community news items may be emailed to planner@vicad.com, hand-delivered, faxed to 361-574-1220 or sent by regular mail. This includes results of family reunions and class reunions or the advances for them, winners of raffle from fundraisers, scholarship winners and big check donations.

    You can email photos or videos to share@victoriaadvocate.net. Videos need to be shot on an iPhone, horizontal mode and with the camera lens on top. Please include caption information on both videos or photos.

  • How do I submit a celebration notice such as a birth, engagement, anniversary or wedding?

    Navigate to the main navigation bar under the VictoriaAdvocate.com logo. Hover your mouse over the "Features" tab and select "Celebrations" from the secondary menu that appears. All forms are located on the bottom, left-hand side of the page. You can also hand-deliver them, fax to 361-574-1274, email to pwilliams@vicad.com or celebrations@vicad.com or send by regular mail. All are pre-paid. Color and black and white ads can be purchased, additional copies are with the packages, laminates can be ordered as well.
