Smithville resident Andrew Short navigates the Freestone County Raceway motocross track June 6 in Wortham, Texas. Short, a former top amateur racer from Colorado, finished second overall in the 450cc class race, part of the AMA Motocross Championship. About 15,000 people attended the race at Tony Miller's 1,100-acre ranch, where the world's top racers converged to entertain the fans.
