Are you serious on this article. Give Hill the credit, because in the last two seasons I have heard his loud mouth father barking orders, but never contributing to his sons skills. Waste of the sports page. Definitely should of changed the angle of the article. Maybe focus on why last years starting point guard, Marcus Salazar, is in the stands and not in the game leading the vipers towards a perfect non-district schedule.
A sanctioned team would be nice. Adding baseball and softball would be great for a feeding system for UHV. If UHV adds basketball then they need to take a look at a few of VC's players. I am glad to see they play here next Monday night. Let's all go out and show that Victoria supports sports in our community. If they become sanctioned maybe we will see more local kids play here close to home. GO PIRATES!
All right. Another home game! Go pirates
Victoria College, a "club team", knocks off Coastal Bend College last night. Aren't they a NJCAA Division 1 program? Let me guess this was probally an exhibition as well. I think the school, athletics department, and coaching staffs at the school have done a wonderful job. Keep up the good work. Victoria should be excited at the possibilities Victoria College is bringing the community. Last night they had two very "BIG WINS" for the school. First of all the girls volleyball team hosted an area all-star game to help give back to the area and the Mens Basketball Program improved to 6-2. Way to go VC. GO PIRATES!!!!
It seems that the college could legitimitely be a JUCO Sanctioned organization. Maybe some support from the community and "The Victoria Advocate" could bring college basketball and volleyball back to Victoria. The community support could be a big push to move these organizations past the "club team" concept. From what I understand, these students are getting some type of schlorship for their participation. So let's all help them out. Go PIRATES!
I think it is amazing how "The Victoria Advocate" covers hometown news like this. Victoria College Club team went out and beat a NCAA Division 3 team last night and they get three sentences. The hard work and effort they are putting into this season is going un-noticed by their local news. The starting point guard is a local graduate that was a bench player on a great Memorial Vipers team. I find it hard to believe that someone in the sports department hasn't picked up on the success they are having this year. Maybe this post will wake them up from their desks and get them out into the community a little more. I guarantee you Don Brubaker will be there for their home game tonight. At least he has bought into promoting local sports and takes the effort to go out and cover them.
