kat2008, All I can say is enjoy Mitchell Guidance Center. Unfortunately you live in a world with laws and rules, and it sounds like tucking your shirt in is going to be one of those pesky rules ("That you will not follow") so my recommendation to you is to pre-enroll in MGC, because if I were your Asst. Principal, your little backside would be planted in Mitchell so fast your head would spin. If this dress code is such a "big change" and will add to the burden of "settling in" then maybe a rigid more controlled environment like Mitchell would serve your educational needs a little better. Maybe help you focus a little more on school work then worrying about the awful new dress code. Plus, Mitchell students all wear the exact same thing, so there isn't any choice dilemas when you wake up and think about what to put on, it's all taken care of for you well ahead of time. I have a funny feeling "You Will" be tucking your shirt in, when it comes down to it, but if not take my advice and enjoy Mitchell. Unfortunately there is no open house. Welcome to the real world sweetheart!

Just had to be. Plus, our tax dollars pay for the teachers, the buildings, the administrators, the learning materials, and on and on and on. The people have spoken. WE WANT A DRESS CODE, and we got it! Standardized dress for everyone, ENJOY it Victoria, its the first time in a long time that you will actually get to see something other than Ganster clothing.

I think a skywalk or footbridge is the only way to go. Would look very attractive.

Finally! Great job UHV, that was desperatly needed for student recruitment. I do think the busy highway is cause for serious concern. The students will be great for the community and great for the university though. I wonder what the hospital thinks about the potential of college dorms being located across the street. That is going to be one big party!

What this kid did was extremely wrong! But honestly, what do we as society gain by jailing this dude? Is he going to ever have enough money to re-pay these folks? The answer is no. Why not let him stay in the Marine Corps, change his life, serve honorably for the next 4 years, and prove to society that he is changed? Possibly a deployment is in his future. I beleive in justice and punishment just as much as the next guy, but at this point what do we gain, by having him kicked out of the Marines? A tax burden? Does he lose a possible career in the Marines and now he can't get a job, because he has been dishonorably discharged? I don't know the right answer, but I think he may be worthy of a probation period, a fine and maybe wages from the Marine Corps being garnished to pay the fines, and possibly a stipulation that he stay in the Marine Corps, serve honorably, and then and only then should he be cleared. Going to Marine Corps Boot Camp is a life changing event. It certainly has a bigger effect on an individual than sitting in the VCSO for 30 days, and definetely tends to reform some of the most harden individuals. If the Marine Corps doesn't break your terrible ways, then nothing will, especially the county jail.

I just think this whole situation stinks. It's very bad for the victims of this stupidity, bad for this kid, and certainly bad for the Marine Corps. I just hope this gets taken care of of fairly and quickly for everyone involved.

Mr. Burdge is a good man. This is a very good day for VC. Mr. Burdge understands how to get things done and I know he will help grow the college into something very special. Good move VC!

The bottom line is that the Sheriff's comments were completely unprofessional, and certainly not reflective of a what one would expect from a responsible law enforcement administrator.

One has to wonder why in the world was the Sheriff involved in a high speed chase? That's the last place you would want to see the head of the agency. Directly involved in a high speed chase? That's why there are road Deputies and field supervisors. I can only suspect that the Sheriff is much too busy playing cops and robbers rather than leading an agency from a completely objective administrative capacity.

I had an opportunity to visit with several people involved in local law enforcement, and this topic dominated the water cooler talk. Each of them commented that the Sheriff's statements were embarassing to law enforcement, and in no way did they agree with what he said. They too questioned why the Sheriff, oddly enough, always seems to "get involved" rather than sitting back and allowing his deputies to perform their duties as assigned. From what I am told, the last place a law enforcement supervisor should be is knee deep involved in the actual incident, and they should stay far enough removed to have an objective view of the situation in its entirety. One, in order to field complaints and or criticism of the incident if something were to be questioned, and also so they have the ability to see the situation in its entirety and manage it rather than be directly involved. Never should they get directly involved, if at possible they should avoid direct involvement and let field supervisors do their jobs.

This is what frequently happens to Sheriffs and Chiefs who are new to actual day to day law enforcement and haven't ever really been street cops themselves. They have a tendency to get caught up in the excitement, and understandably as this is all new and exciting to them.

Not a bad job by the VCSO, thankfully nobody was injured and it all worked out for the good of the community and all who were involved. But really unfortunate that the Sheriff made such iresponsible comments.

Because each class has 20 plus kids. So when the 2nd grade goes to the gym, possibly, quite possibly, the entire 2nd grade could fit into the gym? Isn't a gym designed for basketball and dodge ball, and for playing and running?

This particular gym might fit two classes inside, and that would be cramed packed. How are they suppossed to excercise and run and play? What do the other classes do while the first 40 kids are jammed up inside that cracker box? Twiddle their thumbs?

Quit asking stupid questions, and get with the program Victorian. Absolutely stupid question Robert? "Why would they need a bigger gym?" Your just as ridiculous as VISD. No wonder.............

  • Cantwait

The Gym is right smack dab in the middle of the school. (Schorelemmer).

It says occupancy is 56 kids???????? What in the world was VISD thinking when they built that tiny, tiny, tiny thing they are trying to pass off as a Gymnasium??????? Is there never going to be any growth? Isthere any future projections for growth????? That's plain stupid! The school was tiny, and I guess they don't expect but about 300-400 kids at most?

Why in the heck......... someone pray tell me, that VISD has decided to bus kids all the way up to the northern city limits, actually just inside the county (Schorelemmer), from areas south of Mockingbird, as far south as Windsor Park, Polk Avenue, Nimitz Dr.????????? There are several elementary schools much, much, closer. What the heck happens when 3 or 4 more north neighborhoods are built in the next year or two, and 100 or so kids are then within Schorelemmer's boundaries? Why in the holy heck are kids all the way down from south of flippin Mockingbird Drive going to Schorlemmer. It isn't fair to those little kids to bus them half way across this darn town!

Good job VISD. You have a school that was built like a sardine can, not to mention piss poor planning, crazy zoning, and a playground and grounds that will turn into a mud pit sink hole at the first site of any fair amount of rain!

VISD you really out did yourself on this one!

And you wonder why your district sucks so bad?

Vipers will be doing very good to get 3 to 4 wins under their belt. If they win 4 or maybe even 5 games this year, it will be a tremendously successful year. Good Luck Vipers.
