Jared, the reason advanced degrees aren’t paid more is because those degrees do little to guarantee that a public school educator will be a better teacher. Advanced degrees do have their place and are rewarded as such for research, teaching at the college level, medicine, law, and campus administrators. If a person wants to be rewarded for their advanced degree, there are avenues for that higher compensation and it’s not at the classroom teacher level.
But think about this… if a school district has the highest paid teachers in the area (and Victoria does) and the return on investment of an advanced degree does not guarantee a better teacher, why would a district pay for an advanced degree in the first place?
And yes, welcome to the outside world where salaries are being reduced and jobs are being cut.
Is there not a competitive bid to perform this service? I own a pest and animal control company and I would like the opportunity to do the work at a competitive price. Seems like this is a done deal.

Better be careful with that! The Dept of Labor doesn't look kindly on volunteer work especially when it's the same job you are normally paid to do. Best to pay minimum wage to avoid a violation. Just saying.
If we get rid of the postal service, can we eliminate all this blasted junk mail that I don't want or need???
For a minute there, I was wondering,"Why are we honoring returning soldiers with low cost spaying and neutering?" Some clandestine operation to curb their sex drive on the return home?
Anytime public services are used (police, fire, EMS) that information, (names and address) is public information. Besides the cloud of smoke or the wail of sirens would definitely disclose the exact location. So the VICAD is publishing that which is already public and accessible.
And thieves aren't discovering their next target by information in the paper on online. Because by that time, it's too late...looters have already hit the place!
