We think of the Crossroads in terms of the counties immediately surrounding Victoria. That wouldn't include the metropolitan areas of San Antonio, Corpus, Houston or Austin.

True enough, Pat. I'm sure my teenage kids would tell you I am not the one to provide the definition of hip. Even the word itself is no longer hip.
I expect some will answer Bocktoberfest and the original Armadillo Fest, and I'd enjoy hearing stories about those hip occurrences from before my time.
We don't publicize the location of the crisis center for safety reasons.
We hope the East band will send photos, too, from the Titans' trip to NYC. We're happy to print news about all of our Crossroads bands. For the record, we have printed a lot of stories about them, too. Thanks.
Sue,Thank you for the endorsement in general. Here is my attempt to address the questions you and others raise:http://www.victoriaadvocate.com/weblo...
We discussed the graphic nature of the photo at length and decided it told an important story. The image shows the reality that law enforcement have shot three dogs this week. I plan to blog about the image tomorrow and welcome your feedback. Until then, we want to stress that we did not publish the photo to take sides about pit bulls or to question the police. Rather, we thought people should see what is happening on our streets. The news value of the photo carried the decision.
Retirement at 58 sounds grand. I don't see my 401K cooperating, however. Mike and Pat, it sounds as if you're putting your retirement to good use. All the best.
Gabe,I'm not familiar with the Khan Academy. I'll have to check more into that. Thanks.John, I appreciate you adding to the conversation. Lots of ideas to consider.
Thank you, Speak. I hope we will keep the conversation going. We have no more important issue to discuss.
