Very interesting discussion. I'm at a conference with a bunch of other US and Canadian publishers. The majority say they wouldn't publish. Primary reason is that we don't show images of dead without a very specific purpose and these images won't serve any purpose because skeptics will continue to be skeptical, and ultimately publishing them just fans the flames of hatred.

Nice video. I remember watching the Dukes of Hazzard every Friday night when I was a kid. Yee-haw!

    g4further,

We have a team of people at the Advocate who moderate the forums. When a post is flagged the review team discusses and may take action depending on the outcome. That action might include a warning sent to the user and/or removal of the offending post(s), depending on the case. If we have a user that repeatedly violates our policies, we may remove their account altogether. There is almost always communication about the impending removal (exceptions being obvious spammer accounts and such).

I don't recall the exact circumstances for Mr. Ocker, but his account was ultimately removed for refusing to follow our policies.

    albert,

A scanned version of the Master Plan document has been added to the story as a PDF. You can access it by clicking on the image that says "Official Document" at the top right of the story. It may take a minute or so to download once you click on it.

    Hi Kenneth,

Sorry to hear that you lost some work. I know that can be VERY frustrating. I have not heard any reports of this happening in the new system (in the old system, it was a definite, known problem but we were unable to fix it).

When you clicked "post", what was the next page you were taken to? You probably already know this, but you have 3 choices when you post a blog:

    - Post it publicly
    - Post it but not include it in the indexes
    - Save it as a draft

Several people have unknowingly done the "save it as a draft" option. When you do this, the blog ends up in your drafts, which can be accessed via "My Blogs -> Manage Entries". You might check that to make sure it is not in your drafts.

Again, sorry that happened, but we aren't able to reproduce anything related to the old timeout issue. Let me know if happens again.
