Lancealot...Foreman doesn't know where Yoakum is unless we are playing in Cuero...would have been surprised if he had mentioned us. BTW...who won these "backyard" games that don't mean anything?

I witnessed that race with camera in hand and hestitated to shoot it for that very reason but it was amazing to watch the emotion and joy of the moment. My hat is off to the advocate for this story of determination and triumph. Coach Zamzow is a class act and Miss Mata is an exceptional athlete.

I agree that both team played well but Yoakum was suppose to be a knock out for the mean green and that didn't happen. And yes I believe that Cuero gets calls from the refs because they are Cuero. The coverage of the Cuero advocate gave me the impression that Cuero was the only team on that field. Everyone knows that Cuero left Yoakum having played a football team. Sadly disappointed again in the Advocate's Mike Foreman's reporting.

I didn't say that an option offense is a bad thing...It's just that I don't believe we have the right people to play the option. Unless you have watched these kids since they played Peewee ball, you can't understand my concern. Giddings had speed that we didn't have this year and we shut down that "high flying offense" in the second half. Mistakes cost us that game.

I hope Coach Kornegay is the guy for the job...but so far...just not that impressed.

Sounds like they didn't want to keep Coach Burk.

I'm afraid that this is a situation where the new guy will shoe horn his offense in no matter what the personnel. I agree with Sir...Yoakum is not built for the veer...time will tell but it looks like the school board picked this coach just because they think he will stay. If he loses though, it may be the Board looking to get rid of him. In the mean time, we might be sacrificing the best team Yoakum has had in years!

This is such a tragedy…Why do bad things happen to good people? We have to remember that life is so short and we are not guaranteed tomorrow. We should all try to live our lives in her example…with a smile and a kind word for everyone. This young lady will be sorely missed and our hearts go out to her family. May God bless them and the Yoakum community during this time.

HEY...How about the YOAKUM BULLDOGS?  The last time I looked, we were still in this area.  I would call a 31-13 win over Poteet on Friday night a successful first round.  How about some recognition for 28-3A that doesn't start with the "Cuero Gobblers"?
