Some of you guys on here need to learn how to read. If you read carefully over 700 people attend classes in person. The 334 is only for students that take "ONLY" face to face classes. I am a UHV student and I am all for the switch to A&M. So many of my classmates are from here (Victoria) and we are unable to attend face to face classes because their are none! Im sure there is a substantial number from the online-only students that are just from Victoria which would probably bring that the total up over 1500. Some of you also seem to forget that many VC students tranfer out to other universities. A destination University would help keep some of those individuals here in Victoria.
Are some of you comeplete idiots? Its meant to help kids who were brought here by their parents and have been here for years. KIDS!! Are some of you so ignorant to think that an individual who came here at such a young age and has lived most of their life in USA would consider Mexico or any other Latin American country their home??? You simply can't deport everyone. Their are KIDS out their who have been brought here as babies about to graduate and wonder about their future. You can't actually believe they should be deported. USA is their home, it is all they have known. I dont care if their parents were the ones who didnt do things the right way. It is not KIDS fault.
Statistically restaurants are money pits, but thats because many who take this ventures are 1st time business owners. A simple cad search will show you that this 2 individuals are no rookies. They have successful businesses in this city and know something about what their doing.
How was this an insider deal?? I knew the city wanted to sell the property and I had no intention or will have any intention of purchasing any property near downtown. If you didn't know about it thats your problem. If you wanted the property should of bid on it yourself.
KCI-- the owner of the 100 acres is the county of Victoria. During WW2 the military owned the land where the airport is and the land behind it. After WW2 the unsued land behind airport was given to the county but it had deed restrictions that they could not sell the acreage. The idead of donating part of that land for the good of the community has been a plan for years. If we can build 2 new high schools, 1 middle school and 2 elementaries with 59 million the new college can be started with the amounts been requested by UH.
@Jack Duece-- A brisk walk does is not a 10 minute mile which is what your comment implies. The average person walks a mile at a normal pace at 15minutes per mile. If these kids have back packs it is understandable for it to take 45 minutes to walk about 2 miles to school specially if they have to constantly stop for traffic. I doubt you could walk 4 miles in 40 minutes.
You think these guys are out of shape. I bet Bostinks couldnt even hang if he decided to go out to one of their practices. Thier running back single handedly took Palacios last year to their best ever playoff showing in awhile just a year and half ago. You think this kid is out of shape no way. I will admit the games are not the most exciting but i think it has more to do with years of rust than actual work ethic of the players.
