As a godparent who went through this with several Godchildren, I can feel the mans pain. Its high time these offenders get more than a probation or slap on the hand. I am all for all sexual offenders having to put a sign in their yard, like Cuero makes them do. I remember my mother telling a story that happened in the early 1900's. A man had raped a young lady, and before the law could do anything about it, her father and brothers kidnapped the man, nailed "IT" to a tree stump and took an axe and cut it off. Needless to say, he didnt rape anyone else ever again and one would assume he had many medical issues.
maybe we need to get stiffer with all criminals, but those who offend children in particular.
I don't think that Sheriff O'Connor needs to do any Hollywood actions to prove that he is a good sheriff worthy of re-election, He has already done that. He seems to me to be the best sheriff that Ive seen serve in the almost 30 years I have lived here.
Familyman, you bring up a couple of good points, I know quite a few doctors here in town that prescribe what is asked for and plenty of it, why, perks from the drug companies. And as far as teachers, I only know of one over the years who shared prescription drugs with students, and as much as parents and outsiders talked to the principal and school district, nothing was done. And BTW, that teacher taught under the same principal who is running the gang fights at East.
I live in a HOOD like wayward speaks of and its very frustrating. you finally get sick, and cant keep up like you always have and your neighbors start asking each other if you still live there. Yea, I still do but why make my self sick the be the only one on the block that follows the rules. Fatboy, I do know her neighborhood, have a couple of friends over there......Too many politics if you ask me. Then you get people like my daughter in Katy. Just deliberately works at breaking the rules and challenging the HOA, because its fun..........what a world we live in. and in her case, I do take the HOA side, NO neighborhood needs to have a street dance in the cul de sac
Mikespace, I agree, Mr. Tyler is a very well read attorney, had a very successful practice that the gave up to defend citizens of our county. He knows the law better than one of our judges (NO NAMES PLEASE) and I wish people would let him do his job. This county has had the good old boy alliance for over a hundred years and its time for it to go.............
bobmorry, you pose a great question. I think that Citizens caters to the Victoria Womens Clinic when they whine and whimper. Do notice that they ran everyone else either out of town or into their practice. I am formerly a patient of a doctor at the womens clinic. I ignored my checkups, not because I dread a doctor, but because I dreaded the money focused run around that patients get at Victoria Womens Clinic. Dr. Westford attended my granddaughter giving birth as a diabetic teen and did very well in doing a C-section at De Tar North. Her loving and caring manner of practice impressed me so much that I decided to schedule a surgery that I needed with her. I had originally planned to have the surgery in Wharton County with another OB/GYN, because I didnt want to deal with the Victoria Womens Clinic. Now that Dr. Westsford has her own clinic, I will not have to leave Victoria to do the needed surgical procedure. I fully trust her and more so admire where she has taken her paths in life. Congrats Dr. Westford on your new practice and may God Bless you and your staff and allow you be a valuable asset to the medical community in Victoria Tx.
and sugar, VISD hasnt a grip either, its just that the laws of the land dont allow a public system to close, just milk us citizens for more taxes to make up for the losses. Long after I am gone, the citizens of Victoria will figure out what all of these fancy new campuses and facilities will cost them
If you didnt have a student at Outreach, you need to not be talking assumptions. Test scores at this school were higher than any in VISD and more offerings for learning were offered. Children who didnt do well in the larger settings at VISD excelled at Outreach. My Godchildren who failed at O'Conner Elementary were Honor Students @ Outreach. Why? Individual attention and dedicated teachers. Teachers who were willing to teach for a month without pay because they were dedicated to the children. You wont find that in VISD. My granddaughter excelled there in the Pre-K program. She can write even her complicates last name after one year in their classrooms as well as many other words. We have charter schools for one reason. Our Public School systems have failed our children. This closure has nothing to do with children, but with MONEY, POLITICS and dismissed employee's who worked very diligently to start the fire burning long after resolutions had been made for the problems of the past. I will only hope that a new company does take the school and offer to those students in need what they deserve.

And the attacker that left was a student or someone who got past security? I had a kid at East last year and trust me, it was soooo out of control
