The deputies don't have time to find your tractor, drose, because they're too busy chasing illegals and such. I've never seen an agency so eager to call out the helicopters and the dogs. I wonder what that costs anyway?? I'd like to see our Sheriff focus more on things like rural thefts instead of amassing a bunch of costly military equipment and vehicles.
I agree with the Editorial Board's view on this topic...thank you! While Tophat makes a valid point about people boarding planes, I think a distinction can be made between that scenario and people entering a public building. Are we going to start requiring individuals to remove shoes and belts to enter the library or the mall?? Yes, terrorists have a great deal of patience, but I doubt seriously that any of the employees with 20+ years of service to our county are patiently biding time to wipe out the masses at the courthouse. We need to approach this issue with a little common sense.
Overboard is an understatement! Employees who have worked for Victoria County for decades certainly don't need to be subjected to such a demeaning practice. This is a knee-jerk reaction to a situation that could have been prevented by proper adherence to the previous procedures.
Leave it to the same old haters to spout off about things they know nothing about... Mrs. Morrison does indeed have a family member who is very ill. Campaigning in Nueces County would have required a great deal of time away at a time when she really needs to stay closer to home. Good luck, Geanie!
Wouldn't it be more appropriate to find someone who actually knew this gentleman and has something nice to say about him before writing an article about the folks in Tivoli "remembering" him? RIP, sir...
I say BOTH!! What a convenient way for the DAs to sidestep their duty to provide all exculpatory evidence to the defense: "Gee, your honor--we were unaware of its existence...sorry."
Please do not interpret my comments as being callous to the fact that a young men is dead. I offer my sincere condolences to the Ponton family for the loss of their loved one.
However, it is the District Attorney's statutory DUTY is to seek the truth, not to secure a "win". If we allow him to forget that, we're all in trouble.

As ridiculous as it may sound, I believe the silverware was confiscated from an employee's lunch bag.
