This child transferred in from another school during the school year. The teacher is fabulous, my child is in the class. Please pray for this child, I hope he gets the help he needs. DeLeon is a wonderful school of which myself and my wife are on campus almost weekly, we interact with administrators and teachers often. This is a very unfortunate situation and could have happened anywhere.
Local contractors can bid on buy board projects. You have to sign up for the notifications and give them some of your information. I am a local contractor and I bid on buy board projects occasionally. They are very competitive which is a good thing for the local governments.
Can this school move forward without Mrs. Phillips? The magnitude of the situation seems too much for her. Maybe TEA could look into bringing in someone experienced in starting a charter school or bringing one back from the brink? Sounds like a lack of leadership.
Victoria is a wonderful place to live and raise a family. Events like this are part of what makes our community so great. Thank you Man to Man ministries for all you do!
How do they choose who is on the citizens advisory board? Just pick friends or is there a place to volunteer?
It is sad, but true. I agree with SpeakUp. You've got to lock your stuff up. That is just the world we live in. I had my stuff stolen from a storage unit on Guy Grant. I do not use that place any longer, and I took precautions to keep it from happening again. Possibly a lock on this guys shed would have alleviated all the problems.
How could he not get this? He is friendly to anyone and everyone. Thank you Bro. Gary for serving our community, one of the many reasons Victoria is such a great place to live!
I agree PatB, unfortunately many qualified individuals have to earn a living before they can consider serving their communities. Many of the public servants are individually wealthy or are long time business owners with the flexibility to be available to serve in the various capacities. That means many bright, qualified individuals with new fresh ideas do not even consider public service due to the time constraints of work leaving us only a small handful of people that run our town.
Does the Mayor earn a paycheck with the city?
"It's always a choice" Do you need that larger home, that newer car, those newer clothes, fancy phone, etc... are they really more important than raising your own child in their formative years? Or does the daycare raise your child? Not trying to be mean, it seems that many people have misplaced priorities in their lives. It does take sacrificing keeping up with the Joneses at times, but you only get one shot to raise your children. btw -- yes my college educated wife stays home, no we are not wealthy.
