I understand. I am going through the same thing in my newsroom, except instead of your situation it is actually an editor. Which drives me insane, considering I won an APME award for design and they didn't. And yet, my designs tend to always have something wrong with them. And funny enough the male designers are picked to go to redesign meetings were the female designer (that would be me) has to stay in her seat and twittle her little thumbs.
Needless to say, I'm polishing off the resume. This is too much. I have tried to fight this, but to it is a no win situation.
and if it helps, I'm coming down there this weekend, and I got your back!
Here's my opinion, and it's just my opinion. I think lately the advocate has done a decent job covering this. When the Ratcliff story broke the Advocate reported like TMZ or Inside Edition, and I was almost ashamed to say that I had worked there for 7 1/2 years. Things have changed since I have left, but I think they are doing what is right. Some people don't realize how hard it is to write the entire truth, when others don't want to believe that truth or have their own mind made up. I went on to manage a paper and you have to believe what the elected and non-elected officials give you for fact. If anything was ever given to us off record at the Advocate or at the paper I managed, it was just that, off the record. However, we did do our own investigating. That's what makes a good story, a good reporter and a great paper...when journalist go off on their own and do some research and investigating and bring it back to and add it into the story and make people what to question and know what's going on. I think the Advocate has done well. I honestly don't think there is any political biases or any one pulling puppet strings. Personally, I can't imagaine how awful it must be to have elected officials in this sort of mess and not being able to trust anyone, but don't most people say that about our country's government? I think we should let the courts decide and move on. If we focus on this, we may miss what's happening around us...life. And we don't know when that will come to an end.
Those are great choices, however I'm in Houston - but if anythign happens when I visit Victoria, I will go chek those places out. Thanks!!!
Although I never met him, I think your Buffy is one-of-a-kind. i wouldn't want to take his name. hahahaha
Thanks Amber - I like Paws. We thought about Elvis, but decided we liked Keno and BlackJack better. I really like Rupert. Thanks!
Funny you should say Bevo. My boyfriend is a UT grad and we have tossed that one around. (We had a parakeet name Mac Brown). We thought about Cooper (the name of the stuffed longhorn I got at the UT store). I will add it to consideration. Thanks!
Congrats on your feat! I have a friend who trained for the BPMS150. People just don't realize how much it actually takes to ride that far. I think instead of me wanting to try, I need to just go for it. Way to go for it! ~kerri
