I have been a "non-smoker" now since November. I must say that the first couple of months are hard but things get better. I can't even remember the last time I had a craving for a smoke. Good luck to all those that are trying. Remember that quitting takes practice. This is my second real attempt, it seems to be sticking!!

Are you kidding, I can hear it now...."Cruel and unusual Punishment" would be heard form every cell. I sure wish we could have a jail system that was self sustained.

  • MandyS

Okay, I see that...however extream. I can see "social legislation" would be necessary if there were signs saying "Non-smokers not allowed" or "Smokers only" there for discriminating against a group of people. I have not seen these. It is a choice for the owners of the business and the customers.

"You are also falsly assuming that there are an infinite amount of substitutes for the business in question. Supply is driven by demand, not vice-versa"

I understand this, however, I would not give a business my hard earned cash if I did not agree with its practice. If this is the only business (bar, club, restaurant) within 100 miles, I would simply not patrin that establishment.

Shouldn't it be up to the establishment if wants to allow smoking and up the the public if they want to give their business to a place that allows smoking?

Even now that I am a non smoker, it doesn't bother me to go bars and clubs that allow smoking if well ventilated. (Sorry for the spelling errors.)

I am an Ex-Smoker. I would only smoke outside public places or inside my own car. I respected others rights to breath "clean" air aslong as they respected my right to smoke while in the "open" air conditions. If they did not like it they could walk a few feet to where there were no smokers or smokie conditions. I still feel that way as I have friends that smoke. I do not believe that smoking should be banned, just find a middle ground.

I quite smoking back in Nov. It will be hard the first few weeks, just stick to it and keep thinking about the $5000 that you are saving to spend on better things. Find something that motivates you and you will be fine!!

Why is this dated November of 2008?

    Good post. Thank you.

BigJ, I am not looking for a fight. I am simply trying to understand where you are coming from. Sorry if it seemed that way.
I am not a parent, however I do have many friends that became parents at a young age that have used the so called system and others that managed on their own. That being said I will leave this matter alone. Have a great day everyone.

BigJ,you wrote: Let me tell you WHY there are teen mothers. That because most of them do NOT know what love is. I am in my twenties, I have more insight than you because I do have a fresh memory about my teen years. Most Teenage mothers are naive and most teen fathers are jackA$$ES. That lies the problem, not some way of her getting a government check. Some of them don’t any know about government in school much less on how getting a check from Uncle Sam.How is this an example and not your opinion? It reads like an opinion.  Oh, and "most" was used in RepublicanWomans post.
