I grew up in Palacios, then got married and moved to Victoria. I was going to go to college at that time, but decided that I didn't really need an education for some reason. I worked at Spherion for a while, then did 6 months of one job/month until getting hired back on at Spherion. In that interim period I signed up to enlist in the US Navy. From January 10, 2005 until July 11, 2008, I was a Sailor. I served aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN-72) and over the 3.5 year period I was on Active Duty was awarded a Flag Letter of Commendation, the Navy Good Conduct Medal, the Global War on Terror Service and Expeditionary Medal(s), and two Sea Service Deployment Ribbons. I managed to get in, make E-5, and get out before most people have time to make E-4; not tooting my own horn, just illustrating the adage of "choose your rate, choose your fate." After getting Honorably discharged, I stayed in Washington long enough for my marriage to fall apart, working for a company called Excell Data Corporation on assignment at the Microsoft AdCenter in Redmond, WA. In January, having reconciled (I though) our differences, my wife and I packed what personal belongings would fit into our Mazda MP3 and hit the road back to Texas. Flash-forward to July 11, 2009 - I am still unemployed (unemployable?) but making the necessary preparations to rescind my former thought of not "needing" an education to get anywhere. I'm filing for divorce at the end of the month, but there's no hard feelings, just a lack of similitude and what have ya.
Rock over London, Rock on Victoria.
