Anyone who wants to pray before a public meeting absolutely should....either at home or in their place of worship. This town has an Islamic place of worship and a synagogue (and possibly lesser-known worship centers of other faiths), and those who are insisting on Christian prayer at public meetings of government officials are not only encroaching on the prohibition of government-endorsed religion, they are being self-centered in refusing to acknowledge and respect the faiths of other citizens. Especially nauseating was the reader who claimed to be a former mayor and who decided that people who didn't want to pray his way should leave the country. Gotta love that type of thinking that led to the Pilgrims---but then again, America certainly isn't the cradle of liberty it used to be. Maybe it IS time to start over, somewhere else.
So Victoria PD and VISD can't even lock down schools when needed but parents have to show picture IDs to have lunch with there kids and teachers get photographed and criminal checks run on them. I guess security is only for people who show up. Hmm hmm hmm.
