My husband would tell you that one of the things he regrets the most in life is telling his dad he wants to drop out of college and his dad replying: "OK, if that's what you want to do...".
But all is well when it ends well and, 15 years later, my husband has two more semesters until graduation. Yay! I'm also ready to leave "college life" behind, believe me! :-)
I think Madonna was booed because she had no idea what she was talking about. She gave a general statement as advice, without understanding the dynamics of Romanians and Gypsies in Romania.
For two years in a row, two shows featuring the life of a Gypsy community were absolute leaders of audience in Romania. Romanians appreciate traditional gypsies, the original Gypsy music is amazing and so is their culture.
What Romanians don't like is the "slum-kind" of gypsy that has a foul language, steals and cheats.
Sorry, but WHO is this Bill Doyle and why is his opinion taken as the truth?!
The sign is irrelevant and a crosswalk beats a stupid sign. If you want pedestrians to get the idea (i.e. that they don't have the right of way) take the crosswalk away!
Get out of Victoria, get out of Texas, get out of US for goodness' sake and see how civilized world works.
It's not about about how much time I have to wait to cross the street. It's the pain at seeing that you have to be LUCKY to cross the street, like you would not have any rights.
A female (judging by her actions not a lady) stopped her truck in the middle of the street suddenly when we showed her that was a crosswalk and started shouting at us. Who put the traffic in danger more? THAT's the kind of drivers I'm talking about.
Victoria town is confronted with a new traffic species: pedestrians. Yes, drivers (you know who you are...), pedestrians didn't go extinct millions of years ago. The more evolved species today are not resistant to car impact either.
Drives are the dictators of the street. They forget or ignored that pedestrians and bikers are equal partners in traffic. Just because you drive a "beast" that was actually made for bumpy terrain and it's WAY above your spending limit doesn't mean you have the right to scare me into waiting forever until I can cross the street.
And now on a colloquial tone: don't drivers have the WHOLE town?! Why can't the pedestrians have the right on a ...wait for it...WALKING trail?!
