I have faith that God appreciates an acknowledgement of reality. I'm not so scared that God does not exist that any attempt at rationalization or understanding would make God disappear. I don't see science as blasphemy, I see it as revealing more about creation. I see that as greater faith. That's how I was created or how I have evolved. =P

I have concluded that the purpose of the bible is not to explain the physical world as science. To take the bible as a science book is doing a disservice to religion and science. I think it could be seen as more of a history book - the good bad and the ugly. But then I have to acknowledge that it wasn't written (compiled) in a cultural vacuum.

Johns questions remind me of "The God of the Gaps" theory and the dangers of limiting God to what we do not understand. Here is a video of a little explanation of "The God of the Gaps" theory, of course, you could just WIKI it, but I love Neil deGrasse Tyson: http://youtu.be/HooeZrC76s0

"If that's how you want to invoke your evidence for god, then god is an ever-receding pocket of scientific ignorance."

Acknowledging this doesn't make one less of a Christian, it makes one more of a realist.

I would vote for Mr. Cole as a Democrat and I would vote for Mr. Cole as a Republican. Party affiliation isn't as important to me as being a person of character AND being pro-family.

I don't care about race. Many of us just feel like a mom or a sister or a daughter or a friend... I don't even notice race until someone talks about it all the time. One of my friends is very pro-Mexican and talks about how she is Mexican and makes Mexican jokes. That's her. I used to make Bohemian jokes. I would say things like, "My Bohemian China" referring to paper plates... Sometimes I call myself a "redneck chef." Is redneck a race? I guess it's more of an attitude. I mean "redneck" as in not real cultured or refined - probably someone who wouldn't know a Gauguin from a Duchamp. Kidding. =P
