Great article about one of America's Heroes but please...a Marine is a Marine not a soldier. Soldiers are in the Army.

It's not immigration...it's illegally being in this country...that's what a lot of you don't get. We can't afford to continue to pay for those here illegally and why should we? If immigration laws were more strict and the laws enforced tragedies such as this wouldn't happen so often.
And for the record? "all 23 passengers in the 2000 Ford F-250 truck originated from Guatemala, Honduras and Mexico, each suspected by ICE officials to be illegal immigrants. Of the 14 people who died, 11 were men and three were women.
Victor Corzo, of the Mexican Consulate, said there was one Mexican resident in the group, and he was among the deceased."
Only one of the poor souls was from Mexico.
Way to go Lavaca County!
Stingrays..."Clean the site of the puncture wound and remove the barb if possible"
Nothing could be further from the truth. If you are hit by a stingray (and shuffling your feet is how to avoid being hit by one...stepping on one is how you are hit) and the barb remains in the wound do not attempt to remove it. A stingray's barb has hundreds of backwards serrations along the edges (it looks like a dagger) and to try and pull it out will not only bring excruciating pain but will also do more damage to you.
Go straight to a hospital if you are hit by a stingray and let them treat the wound including removal of the barb if it is still embedded.
It's called growth and expansion Mr. Alvarez; it is what growing cities do.
Why do you feel that you have to be "against" any and all matters that come before council? Health concerns about the treatment plant? Please...how many health related incidents have been attributed to any of the other treatment plants in the area?
Get a move on council and stop wasting tax payer dollars by being indecisive or just down right disagreeable.
"Maybe you ought to read the Bible! "Vengance is MINE sayth the Lord." Maybe that's the problem...too many people think they are above the Lord. I agree that the dead man is scum and deserved to be punished...but no human has the right to kill another!!"
And that ladies and gentlemen is why we have a separation of church and state.
If he has been at Harlandale for that many years, he's not only a good superintendent, he's also a very brave man.
Kudos to Mr. Garcia for having such a great work ethic. I know of no other person who has spent 70 years on the job. And Kudos to the Chesnick family; you must be a wonderful family to work for to have kept Mr. Garcia wanting to spend 70 years with you.
Good human interest story.
I agree with Ron...this is a win for Victoria County.
