"Not sure, again, how much y'all extend coverage to Karnes City; I noticed Advocates in Kenedy's HEB store this weekend. The KCHS Journalism team fell one point shy of first place at Monday's State UIL Academic Meet; the two who competed tallied 20 points to Buffalo HS's 21, to finish second. Senior Abby Traxler placed second in Feature Writing; she also competed but did not place at state in Editorial Writing. Sophomore Kevin Matula placed fourth in News Writing. The News alternate Lindsay Labus, a senior, did not get to compete but was there for the thrill of state. The success of our schools and UIL are a big deal here in Karnes County. Aside from the prison as the largest employer, the schools are second. Don't know if y'all are interested, but as the kids' adviser and watching them face heavy scrutiny so often from our administrators, I'm proud of them for maintaining their ethics, integrity and focus."
