It not the parents, it the teachers/principles who refuse to follow the rules that make it awful. Things happen at the schools that no one knows about unless its happening to your child or someone who is close enough to you and tells you.

For people who don't have special needs children just imagine this:

The Para/Aide slipping up and telling you that your child made it from Chandler all the way down Salem to Dr. Kirby's office.

Your childs teacher calling you telling you that your child was found outside by another teacher. When you go in for a meeting with the school, the vice principal denies it and says it never happened.

The Para/Aide tells you that the teacher/other Aide pulls the chair out from under a child, while she is sitting in the chair, and the child falls on the floor.

A Para force feeding a non-verbal/CP child and when the child pushes the food back out the Para yelled at him to stop and just eat the food.

Finding out that your child (3 yrs old) walked away from Profit to Ben Jordan before the child gets the child gets found.

Your child has come home with:
finger print bruises on their arms & legs
Palm size bruises on their face
    Bruises on their back side
Fingernail cuts in the arms leaving scars

Parents of other children finding special need children walking around the parking lot of a school when school has been let out.

There are many more stories of abuse happening in our small town. Its not all the teachers/principals but the ones who continue to do bad makes it look bad as a whole. I wish Mr. Jaklich the best of luck and hope he is able to turn our ISD around too.

I pray that he is found safe & sound and that his parents nightmare is over soon. I cannot begin to understand what they are going through, my thoughts are with them since I am not able to volunteer to help look for him.

A repeat offender.............who would have thought such a thing (I'm being sarcastic). People wonder why I have been pushing so hard to keep these predators away from our schools and daycares. This is disgusting!!!!

Gulf Bend turns alot of people away who need treatment/services. I don't know if their standards are just so high to get help but there is something wrong with the system. I'm not saying give it to everyone who claims they want to harm themselves but they need either more training or force a 72 hr hold. Suicide is a permanent fix to a temporary problem, lets get them some help who want/need it.

Have any of you eaten the school lunches lately? While it sounds good on paper, go and eat it! They are horrible!!!! They are filled with additives, preservatives & are all kinds of processed crap. The food contract goes to the lowest bidder

Let's see............as of Wednesday August 17th, as per VISD's record of the approved transfers, there are 74 children that were transferred into VISD (out of district transfers) from the surrounding ISD's. Send them back to their "home campus" opening up 74 spots for the local children that tax payers are paying for.

No, VISD does "Full Inclusion" instead of special ed classes meaning that the teacher "assigns" a good/gifted child to be the special needs child "buddy".

Private school for 3 children for 9 months is roughly $10,000 for one school year. Can most people afford it, no not really but why should I be forced to pay even more for schooling since I pay my school taxes ($4000 per year).

Whether a child is special needs or not, us as parents need to know that our children are safe during the 8 hours that they are at school.

I drive my children the 10 miles to & from school & I DO walk my children from my vehicle into the school, so there is NO chance of them being victimized. BUT from the mouth of Diane Boyette "VISD is not responsible for any child that walks out the threshold of the school". Each one of my children were able to walk off campus without supervision during school hours, where was the teacher or aide that was awarded to them in their ARD at?

I've asked/begged VISD for an aide for my children since I do know that my children will be disrupting the class if & when they have a melt down.........VISD's response, the teacher will have to deal with it. My concern is for my children's education BUT also for the other children around them, each and every child deserves to learn. I have fought for my childrens classmates for years but it has fallen on deaf ears.

My children, due to their disability, cannot be outside for a long period of time, so YES they were inside their home. They are safe & have a wonderful home life and when they go outside they are watched like a hawk. I know what my children are capable of so I have the provisions to keep them safe when they are with me.

I got told by Tami Nobles "That if I was to move it would be fraud on my part since I have a home in my name". Plus, why should I leave my home when there is only "1" Registered Sex Offender 3 miles of my home? My transfer got denied but others got approved cuz the person bought a home in another county (cheaper taxes) and works in Victoria and couldn't get the child from school, does that sound right? Doesn't to me.

What this article doesn't state is about how close Hwy 59, PL Hwy, Alicia's & Margarita's is: less than 2 miles away. Those are dangerous for ALL children, not just mine & that is why I'm screaming! For all who don't believe me read this: http://www.latimes.com/news/nationwor...
It can happen that quick, are you really going to take a chance this happening to YOUR child? I'm not!

My daughter attended this program and she LOVED it! I wish we could have gone just to stand in the background & watch her reaction.

    Dear Floyd,

I am sorry that you are living in fear as we, John, myself & our children, do each and every day. I do have to correct you and any other reader who read the story after it happened. The McKittrick's ARE appealing the affidavit to have the dog deemed vicious and banned from Victoria County. We, John & I, now have to go to court and appear before a board to plead WHY this dog is dangerous.

John is in pain everyday from this attack & I am afraid to run in our own neighborhood for fear. Worse part our children are scared when we have to hurry out the door, which happened just yesterday, fearing that daddy got bit by the bad dog.

Please be careful around your neighbors vicious dogs & if I'm not mistaken go to dogbitelaws.com to see what your rights are in the state of Tx.

    Sincerely,

    Sonya Luna
