Most people still believe that cheerleading is just cheering for a team to win. You should see some of the incredible stunts that these girls perform. If that is not enough to convince you then look at the injuries sustained in this non-sport. These are athletes!
Fantastic, way to go Viper Basketball! Why has the Advocate not reported the fact that the Viper Cheerleaders won STATE? Two regional wins and a STATE Championship and not one word in the Local paper about the only high schools STATE Champion cheer team. WOW
In Ruben Navarrette's editorial dated 12/27/09 he wants to blame illegal immigration on the "fact" that legal residents will not do jobs they feel are beneath them. Therefore, we are responsible for illegal immigrants coming here and therefore must offer them amnesty. Ruben believes that we legal residents always oppose amnesty because we believe that illegals compete for and take American jobs away from Americans. See the irony? We don't want the job, and we're afraid they're going to take the job we don't want. Let me just change the focus for Ruben. First of all they broke the law, hence illegal. Second, I don't want to pay for their education out of my pocket. Third, health care and insurance prices are out of control due to people taking advantage of the emergency room visits when they have no insurance and the hospital has to treat them for free. Free is not free. Free comes out of my pocket due to increased insurance fees passed along from the hospitals. I will admit that these illegals do perform a service to this country in some areas. However, at what cost? I believe that they take more from this country than they give. I pay more for insurance every month than they make in income. An illegal can go to the hospital and get treated for free. I pay taxes to the school district. An illegal can go to school for free. I pay taxes to the federal government. An illegal can get welfare, food stamps, and other help. Of course a legal resident can get government assistance also but if they have a low paying job they still pay taxes. At a time like this, with the economy in the situation it is in and the feds handing out billions of new entitlements, why would we want to add more than 12 million new people to the list of people with their hands out. I think we should follow the same rules for immigrants that Mexico has. The rules are very strict and specific and do not favor the immigrant over the natural born citizen. There are even restrictions on what property you can own.
How could this possibly make Victoria safer? According to the Advocate article it's because the officers can quietly approach someone in the act of committing a crime. What's next? Police officers on horseback, I would go for that more than a bicycle.
"Worthy", that is not my problem with Pepper being the most fascinating. This man fits the definition of fascinating simply by being interesting. However, sometime, someone, has to bring common sense into the issue. A violent criminal as Victoria's choice says a lot. Ask the VCSO jailors if he is the most fascinating. I would bet the jailors he attacked would say "NO".

It seems like what you are advocating is a school with nothing but recess and lunch. Oh how great it would be to play outside with animals, draw, paint, and color all day. What we need is more personal responsibility starting with the parents of the drop outs. Make your kids go to school.
