All you pessimists need to settle down and stop tearing apart a good school in this district. The teachers are good and work hard. Times have changed a lot over the past 10, 20, 30 years and this article shouldn't have made the paper but addressed to parents of the school only. Don't get your facts from bored bloggers, call the school, attend a PTO meeting, or school board meeting. Get involved or keep opinions out if you don't know what is happening and how it is being handled. The advocate is not known for articles always being correct.

I agree that clothing doesn't affect the learning and is not a distraction, except maybe seeing it walk by in the hallway. I can see a few minor changes, such as pants/shorts, must cover the rear and keeping the girls neckline reasonable, but the board is pushing it to private school limits. They won't improve learning through this, they will cause more dropouts. Those that don't like authority and already having issues, this is not going to help. Look in the real world, not everyone will make the right choice always, not everyone has a job requiring professional dress. And as Rebecca said, the 80s was probably the worst fashion for school and most of us are doing quite fine still! And I wear shirt and tie for job - and still in 80s for rec time.

Well Rebecca its funny, because me and my wife works 40+ hours a week with 2 young kids and a recent grad of UHV. We get our electricity turned off at least 2 per year because I have to juggle my bills and otherwise can't afford it. We have one vehicle and only the basics at home, nothing luxorious - where are my food stamps? Oh well, whatever the gov'ts reason would be...it would help if I would apply, but I know we are not as bad as others that can't physically/mentally work and we would only be taking what shouldn't be ours. There are probably MOST of us that know people receiving gov't aide that shouldn't be and that affects our government spending as well. So, maybe you are working, but you are also getting aid you probably shouldn't be getting.

Roy, I completely agree with you and I am on the very much poorer side. The only extreme I am, is extreme broke. I don't think the rich should pay a higher percentage, but they need to pay there taxes. Just like the poor do need to get motivated and if they are capable, they need to find work. Stop cheating the welfare programs and working for money under the table. I could be on unemployment earning more than what I did at my last job, but I know I can do better and that is not right since I am able to find another job. If everyone were to pay there taxes, this wouldn't be an issue against one another and if the tax rate were too high we would ALL disagree. And just because not EVERYONE is trying to work, does not mean we need to get on the bandwagon. Lost of people commit suicide when depressed, does that mean we need to follow suit or try and improve our lives. But I digress and since this TEA party day isn't only about taxes...
People not aware of the purpose of the parties/protest happening today need to look again at ToniAnne. It is about government big spending and abusing their power or becoming too powerful. This is not about impeachment or insulting President Obama. This is to be a peaceful protest. We want to avoid a revolution, avoid French revolutions.
This is a republic. This nation is "for the people, by the people". We run the businesses and finances, it is not the government to decide without our voice. The government does not need to take over and run auto industries and financial institutions. The political parties - on both sides - have lost leadership and need to be redirected.

They may have had a lot of sales due to their "name" but their service has been nothing but horrible both times I went and I will never return. The last time I had to have my truck towed there so I could get a battery. They tried to use another battery to put my truck in neutral to roll it into the garage. When they plugged it up through my cigarette lighter, it started a quick fire and melted their cord on the inside of my truck and stunk it up with all the smoke. All they could say was it is my trucks fault with an electrical problem and need to get it off their lot and wouldn't sell me a battery. I had it RE-towed to a dealership who hooked it up tested it - installed a new battery and off I went without a problem since. Thank you for an impossible and damaging day Interstate. Oh and my truck still has burn marks in it.

you are right and look at all that he has done or going to do to make matters worse and promises he can't keep. Why not put forth ideas to try and put things right in a better direction as a whole - as Americans?
