Come on, GOPer, this is the same VA that ran a May 12 headline "Commissioner candidate was not stealing signs, police say" about Ramos. Maybe Chris Cobler can extend this concept to everyone, like, "Newspaper editor was not killing children last night." This kind of gotcha journalism needs to stay on blogs and out of community newspapers. Poor decisions here, VA.

Thank you, Mr. Polasek, for providing that link. It certainly answers my questions about the use of all the HOT funds (and provides proof that it wasn't all about the boot-fest). A reminder for the future: transparency in government is a net public good. The easier it is to answer the simple questions makes it easier for everyone (except for a few of the slower types) to accept city action as being beneficial and well intended.

Thank you Mr. Polesek, but the question was "what happened to the approximately $2 million (the 85% of the 2010-11 HOT monies)?" We know what the 15% allocated to arts/culture/community organizations was spent on. It was actually more, since the council voted to pay the movie festival, as the article indicated, so this line item was $217,000.

How was the 85% spent last year? I thought this would be an easy answer, but after three minutes with Google I gave up. There are smatterings of an answer in allocations for advertising, but it doesn't add (no pun intended) up to the missing millions.

Steak (grilled), potatoes and whatever vegetable you can find. Really just the first one is required. And a beer. Or two. That's all that it takes to get Daddy Zero through the next 365. Thanks guys!

What happened to American Eagle? Flying the TINY planes offered by these guys means that there will be more frequent weather delays during thunderstorm season. And not interlining baggage is a deal stopper for me.

Alvarez -- you won by three votes. That isn't a clear mandate to try to kill the sewer plant decision. I voted against you based on your lack of vision and deficient personality. I want the sewer moved along as efficiently as possible and your actions are simply adding to the cost. The time for study on was before you took office. Act responsibly, and act to represent all of your constituents, not just the three people who put you into office.

Good golly, it seems we are governed by a sheepish, doltish bunch of old men. There isn't a single person in this article that comes off looking smart. Who backed the charter amendment? Why isn't there a group or person that can be cited as being the originators of prop 5? VA, you all don't look much better if you can't provide the history of the amendment. I guess this goes back to the saying "be careful of what you ask for, because it just might come true."

The answer to "the VA doesn't help me get medicine to deal with my problems" issue is to document your complaints with the VA, send them to your branch of service medical component, send them to your Congressman and Senators and push the Advocate to investigate the problem. There are other veteran's advocacy groups available for help. The answer IS NOT to self-medicate or to pretend that you're not selling synthetic drugs and to pretend that this is HELPING anyone.

While I rarely agree with anything Steve Tyler does, this was the right call.
