"I must admit that I perhaps lean a little towards the social-justice side of things when it comes to healthcare, probably because of my experiences working with the very ill. It is hard for me to understand how fellow healthcare providers accept the situation we have today. Through all the experiences I have had in developed and undeveloped nations, I have come to think of access to health care as a basic human right, but I know that is not the prevailing belief in the US. What is left out of so many of these comments is compassion for our fellow man no matter his circumstances, but again, I realize that I might be too idealistic for some. Thanks for your comment."

    Report a Violation
"I worked at Citizens from 1997-1998 as a nurse's aid and then from 1999-2000 as a nurse on 2 South. It certainly is possible that we've seen each other in the hospital. I have very fond memories of both 2 South and Citizens, not to mention the kind people of Victoria who unfortunately required our services. As for the html - I'm definitely not an expert, so I find myself googling questions on how to format all the time. Hope the website helps!"

Bio

I am a life long resident of Victoria county. I began my pastoral career in Billings, OK with a four and a half year stint at its First Baptist Church. After spending 10 years away in Fort Worth and Oklahoma I returned to the land of my birth in 1995 and have been the pastor of the Crescent Valley Baptist Church since February 1998. I also have a B.A. in History Teacher Education from the University of Houston Victoria and Master of Divinity from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth. I have also worked as a radio announcer/newsman/copy writer and ad salesman.

Some version of my family has lived around here since the 1880's--mainly the Crawfords. We Coffeys arrived in 1914 when my Great-Grandfather settled here and opened Coffey's Cash Grocery where Huvar's store was across from City Hall.

I live with my sweet little wife and three unpredictable felines.
