Yes, perhaps an automatic recount should be called for in our City's Charter in an election so close. Apparently, "house keeping" amendments are in order, Mr. Councilman?
Regardless, Ms. Rangel did not comply with the law. Her claim should be held invalid as she did not meet critieria, as now in force. She should have been forced to seek legal action to seek her satisfaction. A bureaucrat has NO POWER of interpretation except that granted by the ELECTED OFFICIAL!
YOU ARE WRONG, MR. COUNCILMAN! Recount is not the issue. FOLLOWING THE LEGAL LAWS SET FORTH BY THE CITY OF VICTORIA IS THE ISSUE! You ignore the laws of your own community. You are placing your own personal judgement as superior to the very items which you have sworn to uphold.

Ms. Lack and Mr Fowler are singular in their opinion, but fail to point out that VC is very well funded, and should given t Uh-V as a taxing entity and a physical plan to insure the future educational opportunities.Think ouside the box and eliminate the duplicate administration in Victoria County
Given that Mr. Fowler current employ as a bureaucrat, I am of the opinion that he shold be dimissed for expressing his views of political issues.
With the incredicle number of groups the specific agendas aproaching local public governments with demands for "help", "more", and the citizen's money funds, it is refreshing to have some council members such as Soliz and Hagan asking for justifications.
Of course, the reporter failed to mention which of the 18 of 27 holes would recieve new greens(Red, Blue, or White), and that the City Championship will be played there on Memorial Day (along with the other two courses in town) and where that event will be played.
And a "good old boy" experience is more in line at Riverside. Cronyism at it's best within the working class, while the wealthy folk keep VCC to themselves.
Missed on the whole is the fact that the $30 million still owed against the Dome are bonds that should have be "called" years ago as interest rates fell. This would have led to the balance being paid off already. Why hasn't it been done? Fat cats owning the bonds enjoy the high interest rates (especially during the last ten years), and don't WANT them reduced and they CONTROL the boards who make these decisions.
Look at who owns these bonds, and I think you'll find those same indivduals NEED a huge taxpayer funded project to add to their coffers.
This ain't about sports. The isn't about improving Houston. Look at the soccer stadium. It's almost finished (I could go OFF on why neither the Dome, Reliant, Minute Maid, Rice Stadium, etc, etc, aren't good enough for soccer). WE the people NEED another PROJECT badly!

Well said, Mary Ann. The agendad of the staff of the Victoria Advocate is social engineering, not reporting.
Just as big of a waste as stopping every hispanic on US59/77 and having the dog pollute their auto. O'Connor is headline hunting again. Give me a break.
No, Mr. Williams, it is you who miss the point. The continued theme of this blog and it's commentors is the right of so-called minorities is to assume the right of a privilaged class in this country through exploitation of popular media.
And we would all to agree being a single mid 40's, preachy, claimor of false creditials, and is only semi-eduacted and who calls high acheivers "losers" crosses all concievable racial lines.
