Well to each their own everyone's entitled to their own opinion no matter how uniformed they are. Try looking up the history of pit bulls and dog fighting. What these dogs were bred for and used for. You might just learn something instead of repeating everything you hear. Because when you really investigate and research the issue you'll learn how ignorant everyone who preaches against these so called "blood thirsty killers" really are. I bet if everyone reported everytime they were bitten by some little lap dog we'd be calling them killer pugs and blood thirsty pom poms.
Blood thirsty? Hardly...as a groomer I have worked with all kinds of dogs. I have NEVER EVER been bitten by any large breed dog. I have worked with pits, mastiffs, Dobermans, and many more. However I have scars and even a crooked finger from being bitten by weenie dogs, pugs, Pomeranians and especially chiwawus. (Wrong spelling I know) but everyone tells me oh its just because they were scared or excited. Well FYI big dogs get scared and excited to its not their fault they have a bigger bite. As a proud owner of 4 pit bulls in my life time I have never had one incident with any of my dogs.
I am the proud owner of a beautiful blue nose pit named Berretta. I have two small children whom she sleeps with, eats with, plays with and watches tv with. She is well trained and has completed her good citizen course along with dog obedience. But I can tell you that pit bulls play hard and she loves other dogs but doesn't realize how strong she is when playing with them. She plays with my neighbors cats and dogs all the time but I have to keep a careful eye on her so that she doesn't get too rough. I think this was a case of rough play because if two pit bulls with the intention to kill had attacked this little dog then it would have been dead. I want to say good job to the owner for keeping all their papers in order and taking the neccessary steps to ensure that his dogs are properly restrained. But everyone accidents do happen and unfortunately not all pet parents are good ones and the pit bull breed has gotten a bad reputation.
In response to the comment made by the former NBA star on Haiti I would never ever be so callos as to respond to the disaster as he. I do believe that they need help and are in dire straights. However so is America. I would expect that a Haitian walking down a street in Haiti (or America) faced with two homeless men asking for a dollar would give his last dollar to the Haitian before the American. That's all I'm asking, before feeding the Haitians help your Americans.
I have been fortunate in my young life as a single mother to watch the miracle of people's kindness take me from a pregnancy women's shelter to now owning my own home and looking forward to marrying a wonderful man. But if not for those who saw me as more then a statistic but a human being with untapped potential then who knows where I would be. I never hesitate to help when I can, no matter who it is, because I believe that is what keeps our world turning. Small acts of kindness, paid forward from one neighbor to the next. Who knows how many lives you can touch by extending your hand to just one person?
I'm glad to know that I am not alone with the way I feel.
saranpatrick: I totally agree that most people will look at his criminal background and automatically assume he got what was coming to him. Victoria Advocate failed to mention the home he was basically building and remodling from scratch for him and his little girl, or how proud he was of all the work he put into his car or any of the other good things about him. Even if people are asking "Why" nothing in his criminal history would even remotely be related to his murder, so why mention it? I think that that a lame excuse.
R.I.P. Rocky! My love and condolences go out to his family and to his beautiful little girl. It is ridiculous to involve someones criminal history especially youth criminal history in a story about their murder when it is totally unrelated. Rocky was a sweet person and while he didn't always make great decisions who among us always does. Regardless of a person's past or present no one deserves to be left to die like a dog in the streets. I hope whoever did this is found and found quickly. Luv ya Rocky!!!
I did live next door to him. His mom broke her necka nd was in a coma for over a month. She also can barely recall how to speak and is still going through therapy. She has repeatedly asked for help for her children but the boot camp was shut down or not accepting applicants. I spoke with Andrew several times offering him advice on his choice of friends and the things he did. I don't have a bleeding heart for him. What he did was wrong! No doubt and disgusting. My heart bleeds for the cab driver and his wife. I lost my first fiancee to a violent robbery. I was standing up for his mother, and those that would blame this on her. He was lost before he ever did this, and unfortunately there just wasn't anyone around to help him find his way.
I knew Andrew's mom and used to live by them. She was involved in a severe car accident and has had a long long recovery. Sometimes, no matter how hard you try a child will still do what they want. I was up many nights listening to her cry over her kids. And the kid isn't trash, he's lost. His mom is hurt and struggling and his dad is gone. So, does he need to pay? Yes! Does he need to go to prison? Yes! But how is this kid going to come out when he's released? Definitely not any better. Prison is the breeding ground for tomorrows gang members, if he's not dead when he comes home.
