I agree with everything you said but a suitable replacement system will have to be in place before we throw the baby out with the bath water. Or we will be left with just the blather from CNN and FOX.

SWWWind, I am not a CEO type. My concern is how do the candidates get their message out. Do you know how much it cost to run a tv ad locally for abc new car barn. It costs tens of thousands. It is more scary to me that state run media would rule the day. That is how it is done in China. They have an economy that has explosive growth. But you can't breathe walking down the street. China squelched speech. The people only see the news their main stream media wants them to see. So how do our candidates get their message to all 50 states. Do we let ABC, NBC, and Fox define the candidates? My middle class neighborhood could could maybe buy one ad that would run for a week locally. Our system may not be perfect but it is better.
Mike, the smells of the old neighborhood can be reinvigorating regardless of where it is. I grew up in the inner city in Houston. A neighborhood that was built after WWII. They are starting to bull doze some of the houses because the lots are large and people who want to live close to town are building bigger houses. I hate to see what used to be affordable housing being replaced by the lot value. My younger brother still lives in one of those 1000 square foot dwellings and I spent the night there last night. The smells and sounds of the old neighborhood put me into a deep sleep last night. My brother told me that I should be the one that defined my success. That is easier said than done. Once you have kids, all bets are off. Because then you start to think, am I advanceing or limiting the opportunities for my children. That can make you crazy. I think Forrest Gump said it best. Are we floating around like a feather in the breeze or do we have a destiny? He said, "I think it is both." That is about as good as any answer, I guess. lol Please don't send me a bill for this counseling moment.
Mr. Flapjack, you are being a little hard on the pastor. I disagree with campaign finance reform. Both candidates running for president have plenty of money to run their campaigns. And corporations donate to both parties. How many people work for corporations? How many people work for AT&T/Southwestern Bell, Banks, General Motors, how many millions of people work for corporations? They happen to be their representatives too. Celebrities and multimillionares donate millions of dollars. So if you cancel donations from corporations, do you cancel donations from movie star actors, major league baseball players, professional football players? This is just a gut reaction and sounds good on tv. And it actually does not make any sense. Ban donations for political purposes that employ millions of people. Campaign contributions need to be unlimited otherwise we squelch freedom of speech. Let's say that we ban political donations from celebrities, millionares, and corporations. Who then do we rely on getting the message out to 50 states. ABC, NBC, CBS, MSNBC, Public Broadcasting, and Fox. They all have their own agenda and point of view. We have seen on a regular basis how these news sources edit a speech the way they want it to be seen. And it usually portrays the candidate they don't want to win to look like a bafoon. I think the candidates need unlimited avenues to solict funds to deliver their message as to how they want it seen. Otherwise they are silenced or defined by someone else. Our governor had a short successful stint running for president with unlimited funds but then he spoke. I think our governor is a good man. Just not a good public speaker. So I don't think money gets people elected. I think the person gets themself elected. But they must have unbridled freedom of speech in order to get their message out. Or we become Venezuela, Cuba, Soviet Union, ect. And as far as what the pastor said. Everything he said is true. You only learn this from a daily relationship with our Father in Heaven. The daily dependence on Jesus Christ. You only experience this through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Some people who are not familiar with this or are intimidated by this can think that it can be burdensome. Nothing can be further from the truth. A relationship with Jesus Christ is the most freeing experience one can acheive. If you want to look into this, join a bible based study group from any church. And begin your walk to freedom. If you want to know what peace is, this is it. What have you got to lose? What you are doing now is not working.
Ok, lets get back to business. I am prophesizing an October surprise. A catacalysmic debt ceiling standoff. What do you guys think? We only got a couple of weeks. Let me have it.
born2BemeYou are correct that it is a business perogative to make changes. And most business's go through cycle's. This particular business will try this platform for a while and may keep it or change to a different platform later. But here are a few people off the top of my head that will probably never post on this site when it is transformed to the facebook format. From what I understand you will have to use your real name unless you get some kind of exception. Anyone who works for local city, county, or state government will not post for obvious political reasons. Government enviornments are very political regardless of the department, I know because I have worked in them before. They will never go on record difinitively stating anything as it will be a reflection on their department. In the private sector, anybody who holds a license to perform their job will not post on here. Examples are teachers, accountants, bankers, attorney's, doctors, LPC's. Any occupation that requires them to carry E and O insurance or malpractice insurance strongly discourage these professions to participate in social network sites as clients will solicit advice from these forums leaveing an unneeded liability exposure that can be avoided by transacting business in a normal fashion. Some occupations have strong anti-fraternization policies which these sites tend to lead to. My employer discourages us from using these sites and if we do, they let us know that they look them up to see what is on them. All social networks are blocked from my place of employment because they are viewed as goof-off time. If we are on break, they have all news stations unblocked. This new policy will be fine for retired people, stay at home mom's or dad's, and for people who do not hold professional employment.

Agendas have evolved. I agree with you that unions were needed when created. The free market created unions. It is a free country. The policies that they forged were righteous goals. Those goals were accomplished. But it is always more now. In Wisconsin, teacher unions storming the capital because they do not want to contribute to their retirement or health insurance premiums is very Greeceian. My grandfather told me before he passed away that he did not leave the democratic party, they left him. Things run in cycles. I think you will see the unions put down tonight in Wisconsin. It is time to go to work.
Romney is leading right now. We don't have to do anything. Romney's team is treating him like a pitcher with a no-hitter going. We are not going to upset his apple-cart. Romney does not have to do anything and neither does his supporters for Romney to win in November. We don't have to convince anybody. Obama is the one on his heels right now.
If I was Romney, I would do what Reagen did in his first week of office. Remove the solar panels from the roof of the White House and get to creating net wealth in this country.
