I think it is OK except I don't think they should have to wear shirts tucked in and belts. That is such a hassle.

Why offer a 10-year tax abatement for only 14 jobs? Our tax base is pretty limited as it is. Generally, I am against tax abatements unless they can promise more than a few jobs.

Isn't anyone concerned that Caterpillar's sales revenue dropped from $51 billion in 2008 to $32.4 in 2009? What about the fact that they laid off 19,000 people in 2009 and in 2010 rehired only 3,650? Why are they building a manufacturing plant in Victoria?

First of all, I don't know Matt Ocker and I don't live in Victoria. However, I do have something to address to Mr. Cobler about restricting personal attacks on an individual expressing his opinion. Mr. Cobler said he was "concerned about unsubstantiated and personal attacks this story will prompt." About a year ago, I wrote a letter to the editor expressing my opinion of Mr. Obama. I used facts to substantiate my opinion. My letter was printed but then the Victoria Advocate printed a letter from a reader who attacked me personally and did not offer any facts whatsoever to dispute my opinion of Mr. Obama. Where was your concern, Mr. Cobler? You can't have it both ways--but maybe you can if you're the editor of a newspaper. Mr. Cobler, if you don't believe me, contact me and I can give you the particulars.

I agree that we should all try to buy "made in the USA." However, that is becoming more difficult every day. We are a nation of consumers and not manufacturers. I think the USA should put a very high tax on imports. This would, of course, mean that we will initially pay more for that product but in the end we will be better off. Some of these companies would then start rethinking their decision of relocating factories outside of the USA. They are greedy and want the best of both worlds. Also we, as consumers, need to rethink our spending habits and live within our means.
