It looks like Port Lavaca stays ontop of the drugs. Great Job!
Approaching any flashing lights you are to slow and move to an outside lane if possible. I also believe a human life is precious and a safety vest (made for unlighted areas) are not comfortable but life saving. My heart goes out to the family for their loss and to the driver who has to live with this tragedy.
I posted this for another article, but it does fit the issues we too are having here in Victoria. We may not be winning the war on drugs, but each bust is one more than we had. Input from our community is always a plus, negative or positive. I believe cameras in troubled areas enable our police department to spend more time on life threatening issues. If you know there is a camera, a person is more likely to be more cautious about the speed limit. This may even save a life. We expect our law enforcement to jump at our beck and call and more of the time they do than don't. Our small and large communities are in need of effective assistance in keeping people safe. School zones would be great; look out cell phone users, and folks late for work. It is so easy to blame other for our own lack of responsibility. We are responsible for our own words spoken and action taken. Contrary to popular belief, the law is out there to protect, serve, and keep us safe. I wonder if a teacher has 18 or more students, in a restrictive area, for about 8 hours a day; how much area and how many peoples safety does a police officer have during his/her shift

This is great, if you have ever seen the list of sex offenders in your area? It will wake you up real quick. Thanks for all your efforts to continue to make Victoria a safe haven for our youth.
When everyone does their part in reporting any criminal activity, we all benefit from their efforts in keeping our community safe for our families.
In 2008 we heard glass breaking and a bunch of kids laughing and yelling, and much to our surprise was several young teenagers painting and breaking windows in an old building no one lived in. Police were called and within minutes a red car came around the corner picked up 2 kids, and all the kids started to scatter. 3 police officers hit 3 corners in the neighborhood. Out of the 8 kids involved the police caught 2 at the end of the block running. Two kids paid the price of 8 involved. The really sad part was two vehicles with grown adults picked up at least 3 kids. I would like to hear about accidents just for safety measures and avoid being in the way, but if silence lowers crimes I am all for it.
Sad, to live in fear in your own neighborhood. Why must we give so much power to those who instill fear. Why must we not get involved just to stay safe. Something is really wrong with this incident. Is Victoria becoming a unsafe place to live?
This is not a hate crime, its a disrespect for other peoples property. We are becoming a society with disreguard for not only property, but for human life. We think we can do whatever we want, whenever we want, and to whoever we want. Distruction of another persons property is illegal for any reason.
I like newearths' idea, parents are responsible (legally) and should share the responsible for their actions if under 18. If over 18 you do the crime, you do the time.
