Elkins will be an excellent choice for Bloomington, he is a person of high character and is all about the kids. I've watched him coach at Cuero and could tell how well the athletes responded to him. I believe he will be an asset to both boys and girls athletics. I've heard from many community members from Cuero and they have nothing but great things to say about Layne and the things he has done in Cuero. They feel it's a great loss to their coaching staff but he will be a great asset to Bloomington. The community supports you 100%. Welcome Back Layne!

Having followed his coaching career From his days at Stroman to Bloomington I would have to say that he hasn't changed one bit he is still every bit the disciplinarian that he was when he started. His attention to detail that he takes to the classroom and the diamond is second to none. More importantly the life lessons these young men learn from him goes way beyond the baseball diamond. Thanks for all you have given to these young men and Congrats on your milestone.
Congrats Coach Garcia! Stay the course and success will follow. GO BOBCATS!
artramirez & goodalescott: I agree with your comment on the past school board, however I know they are in much better shape after the election. As far as your comment on the BHS BAND and THE BOBCAT FOOTBALL TEAM, I think that is a classless, uneducated assumption to make. How many games did you attend? Did you realize that most of the young men on the football team were freshman & sophmores? Although the majority of the scores didn't indicate the pride that these young men had, they fought for 4qtrs. These young men showed a lot of character to go out there each week and play their hearts out and never gave up. These are the type of men that make great leaders. Anyone can have PRIDE when things are going good and your winning but when things get tough and your outmanned, those that finish the fight regardless of the outcome are winners. Remember, Those young men and women that you belittle are someones children. Have respect for yourself and don't be a coward taking cheap shots on these kids or the community!

Good comment "NewAgain". I sure hated to see most everyone that left last year leave. However, under the circumstances I don't blame them one bit! We need to look in the mirror and decide whether the constant change that has taken place this past decade is just bad luck or the fault of the BISD board of Trustees. I believe that we can right the ship however it's gonna take some individuals on the board making educated decisions and not what would benefit their personal agenda. We cannot continue to operate OUR SCHOOL like it is a fantasy football team. The school needs educators and administrators that will be around more than a year or two. These students deserve something better than we have given them this past decade, until we change the mind set of OUR Trustees, Bloomington will continue to be a place where administrators end up not a place that people want to be!
I think Coach King, Coach Perez, Coach Salazar and Coach Martin are doing an OUTSTANDING job! We parents can see the changes in these young men already both class room and on football field. Keep up the good work!
I want to congratulate Flatonia on their 1st win of the season and say they played good, clean football. I would also like to mention that although Bloomington didn't pick up the win, I thought these young men fought hard and never gave up. I can see the attitude change from week to week. I think that Coach Perez and his coaching staff are doing an awesome job. He is not only teaching these young men the game of football but also teaching life skills. I hope Coach Perez and his staff stay on board because I believe that the future is looking good @ Bloomington. Go Bobcats!
Well said Sunshine.
I want all these negative people who think that Bloomington is out manned to realize that there is a lot of talent in Bloomington and I believe that Coach Perez and his staff will get these kids ready to play hardnose football. I have personally met this guy and believe that he is a man of high character and knows how to rebuild a program that has been down. I have talked to several current coaches who have nothing but good things to say about Bloomington and the kids. I am behind these kids and coaches 110%. We have no place to go but up! Remember there is a town up the road who tried to combine two schools to build a power house and didn't accomplish much in that department! Go Bloomington!
