Whou could afford to fly from here? It would have cost $200 each for my spouse and myself to fly round trip to HOUSTON ($400 total) - not a long distance, folks - just to Houston and then make connection to another flight costing around $500 each. Frankly we can drive to Corpus or Austin cheaper than that; $200 is not worth the extra convenience of being able to leave from home town.

How can they just hire him without looking at all possiblilities...or do they want an interim person. Was this job ever posted? Did anyone else apply? What is the criteria that must be used in hiring for this position? Were any labor laws broken?

Denise Rangel was my council person. I had reason to contact her and she not only took care of situation, she kept me informed along the way. Things change so I hope Mr. Alvarez will also listen and work for the people he was elected to serve. I have no reason to believe he will not. Thank you Denise Rangel for your service to my area and good luck to you.

Its not for me, but why should everyone do what I like? It does not hurt me or anyone for that matter, so why should anyone care? The fact that our president thinks that nobody will notice his change of mind since it is election time is what should be bothering people not each person wants to do in his/her life.

Amazing, I do not agree with all the issues, BUT - this person is now a woman, maybe Texas should sue the doctor that did the surgery..aparently that must be illegal too.get a grip - just because we do not agree with something does not make it wrong, but again, in this area that seems to be the mindset. Changing my gender is not for me, but I am not going to say it is not for anyone else. He married her and she was his wife she should get the benefits just as anyone else would.

I am amazed at some of these postings. Synthetic drugs - key word is drugs, I am glad they carried this out. I think aiding and abetting (look it up - "to assist somebody to do something, especially something illegal" could be a charge here too. Come on, containers to hide drugs, fake urine, are the people buying these things the ones you want driving the school bus your child or grandchild rides to school on? Good work VPD, VSo and all others connected to these raids.

White OLD LADY female, got stopped for not making complete stop at a stop sign, and once for making a wide turn, which means I turned corner and did not stay in the far right lane (making a right turn), I went into the other lane instead.
Maybe that means I was being profiled here, because it seems like no matter what the police do, it is wrong in everyone's opinion. I happen to think our police, sheriff and dps are doing a GREAT job of keeping us safe.

I wonder why someone did not keep watch in the area once it was discovered that there were numerous pit bulls, even though they were in their own yard, until the child was found in case he wandered into the yard. Neither the dogs nor hte child can be blamed - the child did not know better and the dogs were not running wild.

I am curious, in one story on TV the sheriff was interviewed and he said they had looked in that area specifically earlier so the child must have wandered in the yard with the dogs during the night. IF THEY HAD BEEN IN THE SAME PLACE BEFORE AND KNEW THERE WERE AGGRESSIVE DOGS THERE, why didn't they ask the owners to move the dogs for a short time and/or have someone posted in area in the event the child wandered in there? With all the stuff in the news about pit bulls and children getting harmed, that should have at least been a thought. Yes, I realize the dogs were in their own yard, bla bla bla - still it was a 4 year old that was probably scared, loved dogs and just wandered in the yard but was unable to defend himself against dogs that probably saw him as a threat to them. Can not blame dogs - can not blame child, but the child paid the ultimate price.
