I agree. I cannot even imagine the horrors some of these young people have seen and lived through, or not lived through. I cannot imagine my own children in the situations so many have endured. I have lost friends in wars, and have been friends with some who have had the luck to return, in some the injuries and scras did/do not show, in some the injuries and scars did/do. No one can come through it without being affected, and we here at home are sleeping/living through it with only pictures to give us an idea of what went on/is going on in their lives. We cannot even imagine what we owe, much less repay it.

Because the people of the USA do not all do their homework. We have allowed this to happen and it is not new. Counting on this SOP we have a group of people who were ready to pounce. They put up a candidate gifted in areas where women would swoon and men would not have the good judgment to look beyond the face. They did not look at where the man had been, just where he said he would go.
Now we have a President whose background is not respresentative of what he wants us to believe about him. He has appointed czars no one cares to even vet... for instance, who knows that our safe school czar, Kevin Jennings, has taught safe homosexual practices to 14 year olds and supports a group that believes in man/boy sex? Who thinks I am speaking out of turn, spreading stuff that is not true? Google it. It is too outrageous to believe, but true. This man has said things to students that a heterosexual would not get away with saying. This is just one example of a radical appointed by Obama. Probably the most extreme. Either our President has no judgment or chooses to surround himself with those who are not what most of us consider representative of the values of most Americans.
Our own failure to pay attention has landed us in a place most Americans do not realize we have become. And this group is going to fight like you know what to make sure they continue their plan. Ruining the opposing side is the only way they will be able to continue and getting Obama back into office to complete their plan is the only way they will achieve the plan they have. He has to win, there are no other options for them.
Health care, taking more from the successful, doing what the unions want, and following alternate plans for foreign affairs are a few of their goals, and they will say anything and do anything to get their way. Do they intend to help the middle class? No, they intend to "help" those who support them.
It is a mud fight, in a cesspool. We have people in office who are comfortable in this, it is their background. Our lack of attention to an important matter in the past has landed us in there with them.
Obama and Romney may agree on how not to sink the ship, but have very different plans on how to get it onto a more successful path.
Pinochio awards were rewarded widely for his comments.
Anyone who did their homework knows how he came up with the figures he was using. Problem is, many don't do their homework. What a bunch of funny math.
I agree. I happen to think that Obama's method is much less torturing. Sic the Seals on them. That takes care of it.
When I took French I heard the French term above now and then coming from the teacher.... at times she probably would not have been saying "I love you."
It is just unbelieveable to me how most people can understand that if one child is good at playing the piano, it is ok if another does not learn that skill as fast, and if a child is gifted in sports, it is ok to let that child participate to his or her potential, while another may not shine in that area, yet the same people have trouble accepting that one child may excel in math and other in reading. What do we do in our society? We let the gifted dancer or pianist or tennis player outshine other children, yet we insist that if a child is a certain age he or she must read and do math at the same level as others that age. I once read that if we taught speaking the same way we teach reading and math, we would have a nation of remedial speakers. When we learn to let each child grow in the direction he or she best learns, we will not only compete with other nations, we will out score them in many areas.
Being a teacher from a school district that instructed the teachers to close the gap if we have to hold some students back, I am all for teaching children what they are ready to learn without limitation, and give them extra time in areas they find difficult.
For whatever reason, I am so glad Obama was able to enforce justice and have a bullet put into the head of this terrorist. I am so glad he did not resort to the extreme measures that include torture such as waterboarding. On this one item, I would agree with his decision but I am a little confused as to why he would believe he is the judge and jury, and executioner, when he would open investigation into past incidences of what he considers torture concerning other terrorists. I guess in the next administration, instead of tending to the needs of an ailing nation, we will open investigations into why a president would resort to ordering the putting of a bullet into the head of an unarmed man.
It seems for one step forward, we seem to want to take a few backward. Like our own accomplishments are ok by whatever means, but those of a past administration are criminal. Even if they were part of the plan that made the current one successful.
born2, we probably see very different things from our different perspectives, but from what I see, the "rich" actually pay a larger percent of the total tax now. Different sources put what the top paid at about 19-38% before the Bush tax cuts, depending on how "rich" is defined, while now they are paying a greater %, 68-90+. So go on and raise taxes on the "rich" and see what happens. I think it is a waste of time and will result in more money going other than to those who need it.
I am in the middle of the example of businesses hiring fewer people now, and giving more work, overtime, etc. to existing employees. I see those who will not hire now because of they are unsure of the ecomony. This includes those curbing expansion and growth of their businesses. The contractor I kept busy two years ago for a full year, now works independently. His crew is two now instead of six to eight. Not to mention the subcontractors he used. He is not the only one.
Our government is not an efficient, honest or even reliable handler of money. Look at medicare, social security and other programs. Would we have to make some changes to keep them working if they had not been robbed? Probably. But it would be something much easier to deal with. And wait until you see what is going to happen with health care.
Mike, You seem to continue to believe that Obama's policies are popular with the majority, I believe the opposite. We won't know what is really happening until the 2012 election, so there is no use arguing. We had this same discussion in 2010, maybe things have changed somewhat, not from what I am seeing. You may see something different.
The media has continued to demonize the tea party, so you will see those ideas from other sources. The ideas they started with are still there, stronger than ever, without some of the wings.
Please do not take the fact that I don't believe in something to mean that I think it is bad. Liberal ideas are not what I believe is best for our country. I happen to believe robbing Peter to pay Paul results in fewer Peters. Then who do you tax? That is the problem with liberal legislation. It does not support itself without taxing the middle class.
With half the country paying little or no taxes, of course they want to tax the "rich". Add to that those who support bigger government and you have your percentage figures. The problem is the rich can move anywhere. With most money that goes into the inefficient system our government has proven to be not filtering into the economy, soon taxes have to be raised and this will filter down to the middle class.
