I am all for disipline at home, however, after working in Victoria's horrible schools I know why this happens. Isn't it test week? The pressure on these kids is too much. They are children who do not know how to handle stress.

    RHSG-
Battles has six prior felony convictions, according to the news release.

The burglary was a first-degree felony, while the injury to an elderly person charge was a third-degree felony.

He didn't learn the first SIX times he commited a felony, and then to hurt an elderly woman and break into her home?? Yeah he got exactly what he deserved. Another thug off of the streets. Way to go Cuero.

@ Willie- no I was lumping this situation in with the rest of things that bother me in Victoria. You are right it is not because of 2step there is poverty and crime. I guess what I meant was the mentality of some people in the Victoria area. The mentality is what gets me. Discrimination is very well played in Victoria. If you took out all of the people with a BMI over 35, the ones who dress like the above mentioned who are not allowed and then add the ones that pissed off the wrong people, oh and the article about people with tattoo's, so get rid of them too. You would have what the good ole boys want in Victoria. Just them and the people who think and act like them. JMO.

So, to go anywhere nice you have to be able to pay the high price of a theatre ticket, or a high price dinner at the Pumphouse or the like, you can't work in the medical field if you are heavy, you can't afford rent or get a job without knowing the right people and even then-good luck, and now you can't "two step" without dressing like the rednecks who own this town. Hmmmm looks like the good ole boys are going to make it very hard to be able to do anything. They wonder why Victoria has poverty and crime.
Just FYI a very sucessful dance hall where I grew up, that is still going strong, didn't have a dress code. You would see suits, hats, baseball caps, grunge, etc. all under one roof and many were friends with one another. A hard concept for the good ole boys to except.

Some of the best nurses I have ever met in Victoria and around the US have been overweight. I am considered morbid obese but I can run and get a patient to an ambulance. (I use to work for an assisted living.) My job did not suffer because of my weight. No matter how a nurse looks on the outside, it is her medical knowledge and bed side treatment I am concerned with. On a side note, how does Mr Brown feel about the plastic surgeon in Victoria who is cross eyed? Does Mr. Brown think he can't do his job? I don't see many people walking around with crooked boobs so he must be good at his job. :)

Am I the only one uncomfortable with the idea of city workers, electricians and who knows who else, having permission to take a gun to my house while at work? I really don't want to piss off the meter reader in Edna.

I feel the same way. If she has only three pairs of pants then wash the two good pair everyday after she wears them. Sew patches from clothes she has outgrown to make a cool "new" looking pair of jeans that she might impress her friends with because no one else would have them. I have been in the place where I have lived on rice and peanut butter so my kids could have healthy meals. I have also not bought a stitch of clothing for myself so my kids can have what they need. Jason has the right idea when you are in a bind you can ALWAYS cut out something and if you have nothing left then seek out the salvation army or Goodwill. The Goodwill in Victoria gave me ALOT of free clothes to send to a family who lost their belongings in a house fire. You can always find something. Try freecycle and craigslist even. You are lazy because a good parent would find a way to fix it so their child is not humiliated by your actions. Sending a copy of the dress code home is being nice. They have the right to send your child home and not let her come back until the guidelines are met. AND if she misses too much school she will not pass to the next grade level. Take some responsibility people. Side note- don't have umpteen children if you can't afford them. What a concept!
