Sorry, JordanKJ, never happen. Why? Lawyers. You wouldn't find ANYONE to write you an insurance policy. It wouldn't matter if you had everyone sign waivers, the first person injured would sue anyone and everyone. The world is a different place than it was in 1975. Nobody is responsible for their actions.

As far as their being nothing to do anymore, that's a load. Let's see, we still have the park. The city has built a city pool. Heck, there are a dozen pools throughout Victoria. The city have built a skate park. There is a small BMX track at the back entrance of the park. We have a brand new baseball / softball complex. There is a Zoo. There are now sand volleyball courts. We still have the bowling alley. Amazingly, Putt-Putt and Skateland are still open. We still have the movie theater. There are tennis courts all over Victoria. VISD has a new aquatic center. There is still an arcade in the mall. We still have the YMCA. Hell, most of the kids in my day didn't have time to be bored because we all had jobs. Kids now days want to be entertained 24/7 because they have the attention span of Dory (if you don't know the reference, you don't have kids.)

Guy, you should embrace it. Racist is the new duddi head. The left is using the Racist moniker to try and quite criticism of their ideas. I love it. Call me a racist. They have finally played that card one too many times. I don't care anymore. If being a racist means differing from the current administration on policy, then I am a racist....

It almost happened again last night. I was shooting the West Freshman and JV games and one of the journalism students from West was on the sideline as well. We were just about side by side and she was pretty wrapped up in the shot. However, I looked up and could tell from where the runner was going and the angle the defender was taking, they were heading right at us. I started moving backward, but she was so focused on her viewfinder, she didn't realize what was about to happen. I started to reach and grab her by her belt, but at the last second, she jumped backwards. I Think it scared her a bit. It must of been at the point when they completely filled her viewfinder that she realized she was about to become part of the game. Luckily, no one was injured. But, I guess, that is the only way the kids learn. Being on the sidelines. I was just glad to see her taking an interest in Sub-Varsity sports. Great article, Frank. Just don't put away your camera. Writers are easy to come by, but truly great photographers are hard to find. The advocate and Victoria lucky to have you.

I guess that the fact that all of you, including, the Advocate, so totally missed the point, shouldn't surprise me at all.

    1. The program is designed to give money to the SCHOOL. That is not what was proposed. What was proposed was to give the money to a Booster Club. NOT THE SCHOOL OR THE DISTRICT! The district can sign a deal (like the Dr. Pepper deal to put turf in the stadium) because the deal befitted the entire district. This money would not even benifit the school, IT WOULD GO TO THE BOOSTER CLUB!

    2. The East Booster Club did not come up with this idea. An employee at Mac Haik brought the idea to the booster club. The program has been in place since prior to 2009.

    3. Again, the money wouldn't go to the district. It wouldn't reduce the amount of money the district would give to the East football program. It wouldn't go toward education. It would be used by the East booster club however they saw fit. VISD can NOT allow a booster club to use school facilities and students, to endorse a product for a group that is not under the control of the district.

    4. If the East Booster club wants to do this, they can still do it. Just not on school property, and keep Victoria East High School's name out of it. The problem is the all of problems with the program started because East Booster Club was trying to figure out a way to get around the requirements of the program to start with. The money is supposed to go TO THE SCHOOL to be disbursed how the school chooses....

    For instance....

The program at Flushing Michigan (From mlive.com) - "The money will be dispersed to the band, athletics or drivers education program, said Jason Melynchek, high school principal."

Again, the money is supposed to go to the schools, for the school's use. Not a booster club who can decide how they use the money.

If you cant do full unassisted pullups and dips, invest in a set of Pull Up assistance bands. (Google it. Iron Woody sells a large variety - http://www.ironwoodyfitness.com/fitne...). Skip the pullup assistance machine and the elevated feet tricep extension. You'll never develop full blown pullups and dips without doing the proper full range of motion. Also, learn how to do kipping pullups. Actually a better full body workout than dead hang pullups. If you want to take your dips to the next level, invest in a set of gymnastic rings and begin to do ring dips. The big rubber bands can help with assistance with all these exercises. The rings can also be used to do ring pushups to take your pushup strength to the next level by introducing instability into the pushup.

As someone who knows exactly what happened, you could find fault a lot a places. The problem is assigning blame doesn't help and it doesn't fix the problem.
To borrow a movie title from a few years ago, it was a "Perfect Storm" of circumstances. You had a father who came early to pick up his son. If he would have waited to pick up at normal time, the child would not have been sent to the office on his own. If the child would have gone directly to the office, it wouldn't have happened. If it would not have thundering and raining, the aids would not have been trying to get the kids on the bus as fast as possible for safety reasons. If it wouldn't have been the beginning of the school year, the ABC Bus driver would have known that the child wasn't theirs.
It was a dozen circumstances that lead to this unfortunate event but sometimes it takes things like this to make us re-evaluate our procedures. Maybe the school should have a video monitor system down each hallway with a storage system that would allow them to quickly go back over the video to find where the child ended up. Who knows? What I do know is my third son is now a 5th grader at Aloe and all three of my boys were pretty much raised in their early years by ABC's staff and I would unequivocally trust my kids to them. They are both filled thoughtful and caring staff who always put the well-being of their kids in their care first. The only thing that made the situation worse was the father freaking out and yelling at the Aloe staff. Not only was his behavior taking staff away from trying to find his son, but he was frightening the other kids at the school. But then again, it’s hard to find fault with a parent who has lost a child. If it was me, I would have probably done the same thing. What I do know is that spending even a second trying to figure out who was at fault is not going to stop it from happening again.

"Do we want a police state where the police ask American citizens for their papers?" Uhhnnn....Let me see....Police Officer walks up to my window and says "May I see you driver's license and proof of insurance?" I think we already do that. If you would use your pea brain to actually do a little background research, the AZ law says the police can ask to see proof of who your are if they have some reason to stop you. In fact, the AZ law actually COMPLETELY MIRRORS EXISTING FEDERAL LAW! Wow, then why are they making such a big deal. Is it maybe so they can divert attention away from how they have completely screwed the American people with 0bama care?

William, great job. The only advice I could give you is skip football. The decathlon is calling. You learn to pole vault and you would have all the skills. You are going to be sorely missed at Yoakum.
